Since you don’t need another seating area, I’m wondering if you could set it up as a place to meditate or do non aerobic exercise ( e.g. yoga, stretching)?

It really depends on what you want it for. The balcony looks lovely already. Personally, given your location, I’d use it for outdoor dining (round table). Is that a fan you already have installed on the ceiling? If you opt for dining try and choose something that doesn’t block the view

As you already have a lounging area, then maybe a small dining area would be nice, assuming you will use it? Or if you work from home, you could put a desk and workspace out there, but then the sunlight may prevent you seeing any screens properly. For me, I would put a couple of comfy sun loungers out there as an outdoor reading nook!

I think you might be right. The weather is perfect for dining and there is a fan installed above. I’ve found it challenging to find a table and two chairs that small enough to be unobtrusive but where the chairs are comfortable (those bistro chairs aren’t that comfy). For chairs, are there some without arms to keep them smallish, but that match with a table? Table square or round? Foldable?

Oraanj, some of your other ideas are really helpful as well. The outdoor garden idea would be lovely. We plan to get an automatic irrigation system installed, so it would keep even more plants alive (this is Dubai and they need to be watered every day).

In terms of decorative touches, we’ve been thinking about uplighting into the plants. It’s very dusty here so I think a rug would get dirty fast, but the idea of zoning is a good one. Is there any other way to zone the space?

I’d go for a round table. Looking again, your balcony balustrade is higher than i thought (guess it would be for safety reasons!)

Maybe look at a chair like this, as you can see it’s not blocking the view and would complement your living room. The seat is weatherproof but given the dust a tightly woven seat pad may be better. The wood is teak, obviously well known for being weatherproof and naturally resistant to humidity. It may need some maintenance though given such high humidity and heat. Given the climate I’m wondering if an indoor teak table with a glass top would work?? Although as i say as the balustrade is high, if you happen to have a dining table indoors you could try, I’d do that first to see how it blocks the view from inside. Here they also sell the coffee tables with a mechanism to convert to dining but they’re mainly rattan, I’m not sure what’s available in Dubai.

There are lots of battery operated lights around for the table top and perhaps add a plant to the table top

I’m not sure if this is an option but I’ve got the Hay Pallisade table and chairs but with the bigger table as in pic 2. Again, as it’s not solid it doesn’t block the view. They also do chair seat pads to match but we thought we’d try the chairs first without the pads and found them comfortable so haven’t bothered. It’s made of electro galvanised powder coated steel which is weather proof all year round here. Not sure how it would cope in Dubai

I agree. It looks like the right size and isn’t very solid so will not block the view

It is timeless and wouldn’t get hot in the Dubai sun.
