When you say replace the fixtures and fittings does that include sanitary ware? It would be good to know exactly what’s changing as there comes a point, if so, when you may as well do the whole thing.

Is the wall opp the mosaics just plastered? It’s hard to tell from the photo.

Thanks Minnie. Yes it includes sanitary ware! The wall opposite is the same big metro tiles. Will be removing the horrible cabinet and replacing sink too.

Ultimately it depends on your budget. If there is nothing wrong with the white tiles, you can certainly leave them, but if you’re replacing pretty much everything else, you might regret not replacing them at the same time. Browsing photos of Houzz, having the shower end of a bath as a feature wall seems to be old fashioned now. It would be more modern to have all three walls the same tile. I would also take the opportunity to make a niche (if there is space behind a wall) so that you can put shampoo bottles somewhere and not around the edge of the bath. It was the best thing I did for my bathroom! You should also be prepared to replace the floor. It’s hard to imagine that the floor won’t be damaged when the sink comes out or that there won’t be gaps if the replacement is a different shape or size.

I have just done a bathroom renovation as I had lino on the floor and hideous old fashioned tiles in a 3 year old conversion. Developers choice, cheap as chips. I would say decide on what type of look you like first? Walls don't have to be tiled unless water is an issue. A lot of modern bathrooms only have a tiled floor. Decide on your replacement vanity first and the tap. Think about whether you like feature tiles or background. I chose greige porcelain from Lusso stone. Agree about the floor being damaged. Do you want to do a big reno or a few small tweaks? A shelf would help to store items if it is not practical to build a niche. I would definitely replace the toilet while you are doing the upgrade.
