How do you make your guests feel special?
Comments (50)Homejoy! wow! that is expensive! My cleaning team asks €8 an hour and this includes windows (I have heard some companies do not, or they actually charge extra!!!), shutters, terrace, yard area, laundry, ironing, hauling out the recycling to a common area - light cleaning or very heavy cleaning, indoor or outdoor, all for the same €8. And they have a key to my house. They are now doing all my neighbors as well. I actually pay €10 an hour as they have to come a half hour and they are very flexible and are happy to come last minute weekends when possible. I do my own cleaning but this team does the heavy stuff (windows, shutters, cupboards, kitchen appliances, polishing the floor) every 10 days, so I am normally ready for drop in guests. I wish I had them more often!!!!...See MoreI know this CAN be a fabulous room ... I just lost my way a little
Comments (660)So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!...See MoreTell us one item you'd love to have in your home!
Comments (102)I'm feeling pleased to say I have now be later in life been enjoying some of the things I'd love to have, for some time so they don't count for my 'one thing I'm still hoping for..' I love my upmarket induction hob with timer that saves my food from my memory when distracted by a phone call for a chat-length of time; no day goes by without the thrill of pulling open my kitchen's larder cupboard where the contents are so visible and high space is utilised. I agree with ? about having a bidet and have just had one installed and another wish - a walk-in shower Yeah!...See MoreVi spring beds smell horrible
Comments (49)The comments I am reading echo the devastating experience we have had with ViSpring. Having previously purchased Elite and Baronet divans, in lockdown, June 2020, we decided to treat ourselves to a Regal Superb mattress and Divan set. This would be a ’last luxury purchase’ in late retirement. This has concluded in a literally stinking nightmare experience. From the outset the stink was ineradicable. The divan unit was immediately removed to the spare room, out of use. By 2024 an infestation of carpet moths had been attracted by the stink of the wool, horse hair stuffing and whatever else, having obviously entered through the oversized hand made holes in the mattress’ sides. I sought advice from The Vendor , Beds R Uzz. & was referred to Customer Services in Plymouth. The advice from the young lady was to use ’Lavender bags.’ Vi Spring and Beds R Uzz both wash their hands of this serious issue. The 30 year guarantee is meaningless to an elderly couple. We have bought an inexpensive replacement for this £5000 bed for the use of our visiting family and guests, moved back on to our Hypnos bed, and the stinking objectionable, infested, extortionately priced 4 year old ’Regal Supreme’ is waiting in the garage for the local council refuse team to dispose of, at our expense, as Beds r Uzz refuse to handle it. As testified, the experience has been one of appalling stress. The claims the manufacturer makes about this over-hyped, ridiculously expensive ‘ethically sourced from Scottish Highlands’ and ‘South American / Austrian horse tail’ filled product, are apparantly not substantiated by customer experience....See More- 10 months agolast modified: 10 months ago
