Looking to redecorate our guest bedroom, thinking about the sloping wall behind the bed. I’d like to wallpaper one of the walls with botanical, thinking creams and sage, green colour scheme.
Where would you advise putting wallpaper in this room? It’s a south west facing room, gets a lot of light.

I’m not sure I’d use wallpaper. A lot of people nowadays paper the whole room but you‘ve got the loft hatch to deal with. This is ChatGPT not behaving. I’d paint walls and ceiling the same colour (if tou’re not keen on the ceiling the same colour, go .2 shades lighter). Go for pattern with the bedding (and maybe vertically patterned/ striped curtains)

Alternatively you could paper all walls and paint the ceiling green (basically something that doesn’t contrast with the paper)

I would wallpaper the ceiling including the hatch, then pick a green shade from the wallpaper and paint all the walls and doors in that shade, including the skirting. Layer the bedding with lots of green and cream soft furnishings and add brass lighting, hardware etc.

Hello Sue, Fromental are a really good company.. Another is Altfield.. Also if affordability is in question.. consider having less of a better quality wall covering as opposed to all over with something less. You can always get creative with paint elsewhere and a beautiful wall covering on a smaller area will have a greater impact.. : ))

It's a non woven fibre back not paper backed hence paste the wall. The face is made from what I can only describe as pieces of cork stuck to the surface that have been dyed to give a shimmer look it is rough to the touch but soft material. You wouldn't use this where heavy traffic is expected i.e. a staircase as it would easily scuff. Yes it does look rough and you might think if you fell against it you might graze yourself but it is in fact quite springy if you press it. We install using a board and knife and it cuts fairly easily, the backing is tougher than the face to cut This picture is one inputting up right now!

We got a plasterer to do it for us... We were informed that this was much easier than trying to remove the wallpaper. Then again they were only trying to peel/steam like you would with wallpaper on a wall. It does lower the ceiling slightly so if you have low ceilings, the room will look shorter and lessen in height. I'd give the idea proposed by MATH a go and see how it works for you....if it's easy enough I'd rather remove the wallpaper than re-board.

I'd agree that the whole wall may be too much. Either paper the alcoves or just the chimney breast. Personally I'm not convinced that sage green goes with the carpet. I'd work with the carpet colour but if you want a contrast blue might be better.
