Hi If the oak has gone black it is unlikely you will get it back. Allow it to dry out fully then sand the surface and see if it gets paler underneath. Depending on what the original floor finish is will depend on whether you need to re sand the whole floor to achieve a uniform colour. However as a temporary measure, dry it out, sand it back and re-seal with either a uv matt varnish or a hardwax oil. Follow the instructions on the product tin. Back to the black... Oak has tannins which react with water and turn the timber black. This can seep down through the whole plank( you see it most often on worktops around the taps). If this is the case you will be better getting in a joiner/ floor fitter to replace these areas. Good luck

You have a fairly small bathroom, which is why the tiles have been kept neutral and light. What's missing is some items that will pop. You could spring for a nicer sink arrangement. The cabinet around a pedestal was never a good look. Is there enough room between the bath and the opposite wall to turn the sink and move it towards the toilet to give you more worktop space and storage at the end of the bath? If not, keep the sink where it is, but use a vanity to look more fitted. The bath can be altered to provide more storage. Put up a hand towel bar or ring above the right hand side of the sink. Get rid of the toilet roll stand and hang the roll from a holder that matches the hand towel rail. Store extra rolls under the sink. Paint the long wall in one of the colours in the border tile, perhaps a richer beige. An interesting large mirror would visually widen the room. Alternatively, try a pale blue wall colour and richer mid blue towels mixed with brown towels. A light over the sink area would vastly improve that corner. The floor does nothing for the room. Why not choose a vinyl floor from Amtico or Karndean in a dark wood board effect? The tiles in your bathroom can be skimmed over by a professional fitter and the new floor laid directly on top. Hi, I think it'll look fine actually. I went for structural (20mm deep with 6mm wear layer) semi-smoked engineered oak floorboards upstairs which were 180mmx1900mm planks. They look great in my 1930's house and tie in well with the original 1 over 3 panel antique pine doors. I would ask why you want lacquered finish though? It means if you get it scratched the only way to repair is to completely sand and re-lacquer. Whereas if you go for an oiled finish any high traffic areas can be patch-sanded and re-oiled as needed. Its worth asking the installer to open several packs at once and select planks at random from each to help balance out any colour variations between batches. Also I think it looks much more natural when they stagger the planks randomly so you don't end up with a pattern emerging. These photos were taken just after oiling so its a little glossy, it dried to a matte finish which is what we wanted for the natural look.
