The last sofas we bought were ordered from Lee Industries. They are great quality and have held up well. We used a custom fabric that has proved very durable. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Our bedroom sofa was ordered from Ballards. The fabric I ordered was too lightweight for the use it would get from the dogs (and my husband!). I’ve had all new cushion covers made but the original fabric is still on the frame and still looks great! However it is a two cushion sofa, which I would never buy again and never recommend bc people ALWAYS seem to sit in the exact middle on the divide between the two cushions. I have those turned every week (like all our cushioned furniture) or probably would have had to replace the cushions themselves by now. However, that is user error on our part.
I also have an antique sofa that has been reupholstered a thousand times and is still in great condition, a leather sectional downstairs from IKEA that has endured drastic abuse and still looks brand new, and an incredibly comfy no-name sofa I bought for $400 for DH’s home office ten years ago from a place in Atlanta called The Dump, also used and abused by husbands, SILs and grandchildren, upholstered in a mushroom colored ultrasuede type fabric that literally looks and feels brand new.
The difference in cost between the $5000 Lee and the $400 no name is mindboggling. Either I’ve been very lucky or there is no way to predict which furniture will last. Maybe all our sofas were made on Wednesdays when everybody was at work and nobody was hungover 🤷♀️
