Soundproof the walls shared by bathrooms and bedrooms. (7) add separate doors to the primary bedroom‘s bathroom and closet so someone isn‘t walking through the closet to get to the bathroom. Close off the closet from the bathroom. (8) widen the bedroom wing a bit. The Primary WIC is 4’6” (is that an interior or exterior measurement?). You need an interior measurement of 5’ for an aisle and one wall of clothes space. With a minimum of 7’ interior, you could have clothes & accessories space on both sides with a central aisle. (9) perhaps add an exterior door to the primary BR into the central U area (10) create a partially covered patio & courtyard in the U area with space for seating, grilling and dining

Reply to: Most clients use them---for about 3-4 weeks. Then that drops off to weekends. Then maybe every 6-12 months. When they discover it isn't working anymore, they don't miss it enough to fix it. I find steam showers smothering and unpleasant. Many do. Find a hotel that has one, and book a week there. Try to use the steam function every day. I bet by day 3 that you are over it.

Reply to: What kelvin are the lights? That has a lot to do with the color of light put out. I am not sure what is going on with any of the lighting in your kitchen. Your upper cabinets look lavender on my screen. My under cabinet lights allow the choice of 3 kelvin levels. One was too yellow and one was to blue. The middle one was just right at 3000K. I do not see any green in any of the levels.

Reply to: Lyndee Lee, In the New England region where I'm going to build this house, the doghouses are pretty common. Houses are built on huge lots and people love to store their garden tools in the basement. After that dirty work, they don't want to come inside with all the dirt and exterior access will always keep the house clean. The question is the choice between Funnel, BILCO, and Doghouses. Funnel is a big NO NO due to snow and rain issues. I can settle with BILCO, but it's so convenient to have that Doghouse.

Reply to: I share on my Facebook page. I figure if people don’t like it they can unfollow me. Envy/jealousy isn’t an emotion I can control in other people. I share regular updates and I have friends who are much wealthier and make outlandish recommendations…..so that’s funny 😆 As for sharing cost of house. The county appraisal will be public record and I can easily get comps on real estate sites, so I’m fine sharing and don’t feel uncomfortable asking. I know people don’t really like talking about money, but I believe by sharing costs/salaries it helps to set realistic goals. I am tired of all the influencers trying to sell a lifestyle to people who could never/rarely afford what they are doing. But I recognize I’m an anomaly :) There is a big movement in my field to start posting salary ranges on job ads etc. We can equalize pay by sharing (sorry….I know that’s unrelated to sharing house prices lol)

Reply to: I had my kitchen renovated s few years ago and chose Silestone quartz, color soapstone. I love it. It has very subtle grey veining. It looks as good today as the day of installation. No chipping, no scratches, no staining, no issues. Clean up with dishsoap and water.

Reply to: I agree, might not be allowable to code, but, I sure wouldnt want a window above my cook surface. That window would be covered with grease, and food splatters, etc. In my mind, its a terrible idea. Can you move your sink to that area, if you really need to have a window there, and then move the stove elsewhere.
