When a congregation in the small town of Camlachie, Ontario, outgrew its quaint 1877-built chapel and moved to a larger church in town, many neighbors worried the storied building would be torn down and replaced with a not-so-humble structure.

Many locals were happy, then, when designer Jenn Hannotte bought the chapel, restored its exterior and preserved many of its interior components — stunning stained-glass windows, rich wood pews and pulpit — while turning it into an awe-inspiring weekend home for her and her two daughters.
