Pavers poured in place with a dyed or acid treated concrete, mix sizes like shown here but inline not random.

Post for the pergola could be set in concrete blocks that have been stucco'd or carry the blocks to the height of the top.
Do we need to have big/tall raised bed gardens......can we mix......cypress boards, pavers on edge, whatever.

How about wood decking around the palm trees by the pool/beach.

Use the blocks from H.D., like on the patio, on their side to make some of the gardens. Then we have a different height/texture working in the courtyard plus its cheaper.

The sand is 8 inches deep with filter fabric underneath and metal trim around it. Think metal trim might be the wrong choice so come up with something else.
Could we - should we incorporate a fireplace-grill-wood fired bake stove into the wall by the pergola
