Build Team

We recently completed a full-house refurbishment, reconfiguring all internal walls and adding a substantial extension, and Gustavo (Building Manager for Build Team) and George (our contractor) were absolutely central to delivering our dream home. This was a complex, high-spec project with many moving parts, but both men made it feel manageable, professional and even enjoyable. Gustavo was friendly, honest and a crystal-clear communicator from day one. He was consistently accommodating, always willing to talk through options and adjust plans when we changed our mind on finishes, layouts or sequencing. He worked closely with us on value engineering ideas that genuinely improved cost efficiency without compromising quality, and his professional approach gave us real confidence throughout. He also maintained an excellent rapport with the builder and wider team, which kept everything running smoothly and reduced stress on site. George brought deep experience and a calm, solutions-focused approach to every stage of the build. He was friendly, professional and incredibly helpful with ideas that enhanced both the design and the buildability of the project. He worked exceptionally well with all subcontractors, coordinating trades, sequencing works and resolving issues before they became problems. When we changed our mind on key decisions – from layout tweaks to material choices – George was flexible and accommodating, never making us feel difficult, and always explaining the implications clearly so we could make informed choices. His value engineering suggestions saved us money and time while improving the end result, and his clear, regular communication meant we always knew what was happening and why. Together, Gustavo and George sorted out everything to a gorgeous standard. They turned what could have been a stressful, drawn-out process into a well-run, collaborative project that delivered a home we absolutely love. We cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone undertaking a serious renovation or extension.

Two stars, and the second one is only because the extension is standing. The overcharging was eye-watering. We have quotes from other firms for the same work at a third to a quarter of what we were billed. The extras never stopped, and they always landed at the point where saying no wasn't realistic. My wife was pressured into signing off costs on the spot, on site, with no time to check the numbers. Being pushed into paying for work you're not happy with, while that work is still unfinished, is not how this should go. Once they had the money, the urgency vanished. We're now three months past the completion date and the builder hasn't set foot on site in two months. Before that, the job sat untouched for three weeks because the team had been moved onto another job. The trades on site didn't speak English and didn't ask before doing anything. Nearly everything had to be redone, simply because nobody checked and nobody thought it through. We also paid for a build manager and ended up managing the job ourselves. If we didn't chase it, it didn't happen. We've since had to bring in other builders to finish and correct the work — another £15,000 on top of what we'd already paid at a premium.

I can wholeheartedly recommend build team. Throughout the entire process from planning, designing, construction and completion of our loft extension, I have been incredibly impressed. Our project manager Gustavo was on hand at all times to support and advise and was always a calm and reassuring presence. Bogdan and his team carried out the build to the highest possible standard. A brilliant team of workers, with an incredible work ethic, skill set and attention to detail. I appreciate their hard work enormously and am thrilled with the finished result. Huge thanks!

We recently had our ground floor renovated and an extension built by a fantastic team, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Sean was exceptional in coordinating and overseeing the entire project. He was always available to answer our questions and took care of all the administrative tasks with Building Control and the Council, which made the process incredibly smooth for us. Edy and Alin were a pleasure to work with. They brought a high level of professionalism and expertise to the project, advising us on even the most practical aspects of the build. Their attention to detail and willingness to ensure everything was perfect truly stood out. The whole team made what could have been a stressful experience into an enjoyable journey, and we are thrilled with our beautifully transformed space. Highly recommended!

I used Build Team's design service to draw up the plans for my kitchen extension and loft conversion. I was really impressed with the level of service provided by John McNally. He was responsive, communicated clearly and smoothly managed the whole process from start to finish. As a novice renovator I felt like I was in a safe pair of hands. I will be using Build Team for the construction phase but that work has not started. I'll post a second review when the work is complete.

We developed our ground floor planning proposal with John from Build Team and they have been great to work with. The house open days to show their previous work helped bring ideas to life and they have us the support needed to wrap up the designs. We are looking forward to working together in the build stage.

We were extremely pleased with the level of service received from Build Team. The Build Team representative really understood what we wanted to get out of our project, was very responsive, made excellent suggestions and produced a really good set of plans. Would definitely recommend.

The Design team was responsible, effective in getting the planning application approved and reasonably priced.

We used Build Team’s design service for the design of our ground floor extension and loft conversion planning. The team were super responsive and friendly. Santa, our architect, was very knowledgeable and suggested lots of ideas. The process through planning permission was so smooth and granted within 8 weeks. Given the in depth knowledge of our design we are hoping to use Build Team for the build too but are still in negotiations.

Excellent work so far. Listened and considered what we were looking for and then successfully obtained planning permission. They are prompt and informative and keep us up to date with clear advice about what actions we need to take.

I appointed David (Head of Design from The Build Team) to apply for planning permission to convert a house into 2 flats. He has been fantastic throughout the whole process, right from our first meeting where he came prepared with ideas and suggestions. He has come up with solutions whenever there were any obstacles and successfully got the planning permission granted. I have already recommended David to others and am happy to continue recommending him and working him. Ash

We undertook the design phase with Build Team for a complete ground floor redesign. The service was first rate from start to finish. Our designer John was always contactable, highly responsive, flexible, open to our ideas and listened very well to what we were seeking to achieve (and we kept changing our minds!!). But where appropriate and when stuck on which decision to make, John also advised and guided us with skill and expertise bringing his own creative ideas to help us achieve a design we were delighted with. We would highly recommend this service to anyone seeking to undertake a significant building (re)design for their home. M&A, NW London.
