“Here's our review for working with Tom & Wellstudio Architecture on our apartment renovation : 1. Being first-time homeowners & requiring early guidance This was our first apartment purchase in the UK, and we were unfamiliar with the process, budgets, and timelines involved. From the very start, Tom made the journey less daunting — patiently guiding us through each stage and ensuring we were informed and comfortable, without ever taking advantage of our inexperience. 2. Smart spatial transformation Our main goal was to convert a two-bedroom flat into a functional three-bedroom (third bedroom being a study) while maintaining the open living, dining, and kitchen space. After reviewing multiple architects and proposals, Tom stood out for his creativity — he was the only one who proposed a curved wall feature that gave us the best of both worlds. It was both innovative and practical. 3. Mindful design ethos One of the reasons we chose Wellstudio Architecture was its ethos of mindful, nature-inspired design. Tom’s approach to incorporating natural materials and creating a warm, balanced aesthetic truly resonated with us. The space now feels calm, welcoming, and full of character — not overly designed or artificial. 4. Transparent and flexible project management We were initially unsure how to approach the full project management side of things. Tom was transparent from the start — clearly explaining where he could take full ownership, where we might handle elements ourselves, and the pros and cons of each approach. This made us feel both supported and empowered throughout. 5. Design options & contractor collaboration Tom provided two design options — one light-touch and one higher-budget — helping us understand where we could invest more or scale back. We ultimately combined the best of both. He also helped us prepare tenders for contractors, and through his network we found OEG Construction, who were professional, on time, within budget, and delivered an exceptional finish. Tom’s coordination with them was seamless. 6. Collaborative, educational design process What we appreciated most was Tom’s co-creative style. The design process felt like a collaboration, not a top-down instruction. He welcomed our ideas, refined them thoughtfully, and balanced them with his professional expertise. At the same time, he stood firm on certain design principles when necessary. 7. Overall experience Working with Tom and Wellstudio Architecture has been an immensely positive and educational experience. The final result exceeded our expectations — beautifully functional, warm, and timeless. We would highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for a thoughtful architect who blends creativity, practicality, and genuine care for his clients.”

“Seb designed our utterly stunning shed/garden office (I've heard the term 'shoffice' used!), which you can see on the Martins Camisuli website. We have a very awkward 'space' so a prefab, rectangular structure wouldn't have cut it. We spoke with a few different shed designers and architects, and Seb's vision captured our imaginations more than any other. I can honestly say that the end product far exceeds what I could've imagined, and it perfectly frames our property. It really is a pleasure to work from our shoffice, and it's always a talking point, whether in Zoom meetings or garden parties. Cost-wise, Seb built up a detailed schedule for tender, so everything was transparent. There were some overruns, largely due to the energy crisis / war in Ukraine / global supply chain issues, but on the whole they weren't excessive. Was it more expensive than a prefab? Yes, but surprisingly less than you'd expect. So, so worth it!”

“Taking a recommendation from friends, we contacted Richard Keating and the RKA team to extend and reconfigure our house in St. Andrews. We found Richard and all the RKA team very professional and knowledgeable but also really approachable. Richard showed us previous examples of his work and we also had a site visit to a completed project before we committed which really gave us a feel for the flair and vision RKA bring to a project. We were on! Richard was really responsive to our brief, asked us lots of questions and balanced the practical and budgetary considerations of the project with beautiful design and bespoke solutions for us- especially in the kitchen and dining room extension where we wanted some special and unique architectural touches. RKA have made the process of home extension and renovation exciting, enjoyable and lots of fun- when Richard presented initial design ideas for our house, there were genuine squeals of delight! We were blown away by his designs! RKA then continued to work with us, offering guidance and expertise where necessary, to hone the project to our taste and specifications and are they now supporting the process through the planning and building stages. The RKA team have always been particularly prompt in communication which is really useful at this stage. We are also enjoying the interior design service they offer and always look forward to our Friday night updates which have a real sense of excitement around them. We are a small project for RKA but believe we have been offered as much of the enthusiasm and interest as the larger projects they also undertake. Highly recommend.”
