“I was not confident that using Houzz would work.......but Maria was an absolute delight to work with!! I put an advert out on Houzz looking for somebody to interior design and project manage a complete renovation project on a 2-bedroom flat in central London. I live outside London but use the flat during the week while working. The brief was to create a homely space that felt like a haven from city life and was contemporary and fresh. It was my first time using Houzz for this purpose, and I was not confident that the process would work. Maria was the only person who answered the advert. She came to our flat for an interview, and from the moment she came in, she was cheerful and enthusiastic. She listened to my requirements and completely understood what I was looking for. I was slightly nervous to proceed as I had done several renovation projects in the past, some of which had caused considerable emotional and financial distress, but there was something about Maria that put me at ease. She was highly professional at all times. She prepared a thorough budget explaining each aspect of the project. She introduced me to two or three builders, which I interviewed, and I was able to choose the one that I felt most comfortable with. We then went through the design process, and her eye for detail was exceptional. We needed planning permission from the council, and she dealt with all the legalities and forms thoroughly and efficiently to get approval. The project included a complete strip out of all flooring, plasterwork, re-plumbing and new electrics. Maria sourced all the products from flooring to tiles to light fittings to soft furnishings she would consult me at each stage giving me options. She was very patient and did not mind looking for alternatives if I felt that something was not quite right. She kept in regular contact during the build and she site managed the construction process making weekly visits to ensure that things were going to schedule. If any unexpected events occurred, such as pipework being hidden behind the plasterwork which meant changes to the fittings, she would inform me of different options that we could use. I was hugely impressed by her knowledge of design and her innovation to match my criteria for a contemporary London flat but with traditional accents. The project took exactly the time estimated and any changes that I wish to make were done without any resistance from Maria. It is now two months since I moved into the flat and I love being in this space. It feels cosy, welcoming and homely but yet also like a boutique hotel, precisely what I wanted. In a way, I feel quite sad that the project is over as I enjoyed working with her so much. If you're considering a home renovation be it something small or a complete renovation I cannot recommend Maria highly enough”

Our house was a real challenge as it had zero personality and was desperately in need of character. We are a large family with numerous pets however we didn’t want to compromise on the style and feel of our home - we wanted it to be beautiful and feel ours. We also all wanted something a little different out of the design. Yoko and the team took the time to understand us as a family before presenting us with an incredible vision, bringing all our tastes together into a cohesive whole, even the pets! Crucially, rather than sell us our own ideas back, Yoko pushed and challenged us to consider new colours, styles and furniture which resulted in a design beyond our expectations.
