We met with three design companies for our project and Yoko and the team shone immediately due to their client led ethos and stand out creativity. Our house was a real challenge as it had zero personality and was desperately in need of character. We are a large family with numerous pets however we didn’t want to compromise on the style and feel of our home - we wanted it to be beautiful and feel ours. We also all wanted something a little different out of the design. Yoko and the team took the time to understand us as a family before presenting us with an incredible vision, bringing all our tastes together into a cohesive whole, even the pets! Crucially, rather than sell us our own ideas back, Yoko pushed and challenged us to consider new colours, styles and furniture which resulted in a design beyond our expectations. We were really happy with the process and love living in the finished house.

Yoko and her team helped us re-design our apartment and successfully turned our apartment into the Japanese/wooden vibe that we envisaged (but this is not the only style that they are good at). The team also assisted us to sort out all deliveries and resolve issues that came up unexpectedly. The outcome is good and we do recommend her.

The result of her work was very disappointing. She doesn’t have the required knowledge and experience for a larger scale project. She made unbelievable mistakes in all areas so we had to hire another interior designer to finish off the work. It seems that this happened not only at our house but also at some other clients’. We would definitely not recommend.

As a design firm, we understand that visualising spaces before they are created can be a complex process. We employ various tools, such as 2D rendered drawings, materials, images, and 3D sketches, to effectively communicate our designs. We also provide detailed specifications, including dimensions and supplier documentation, to ensure clarity and obtain client approval before moving forward with production. We are always available to offer consultations and address any concerns or confusion that may arise during this phase.

Regarding your specific project, we want to emphasise that all the designs provided were reviewed and approved by you. However, we understand that sometimes, despite our best efforts, certain aspects may not align with your initial vision or expectations. It could be due to difficulties in visualising or a change of preference. We recognise that this can be one of the most challenging aspects of our work and, as a result, we offer multiple visualisation options to assist our clients in making informed decisions in our updated process.

Keeping our clients informed about what is included in our contract and what is not can also be a complex task. In your case, we were not aware until later in the project that you were comparing our deliverables with another designer's work for a different project. It is important to note that each contract and scope of work is unique, tailored to individual clients and their specific requirements. We now realise the importance of reinforcing contract terms throughout the process to avoid any misunderstandings, and we have incorporated this into our updated procedures. We are always open to discussing and accommodating changes to the scope when necessary.

It has been a great pleasure to work with Yoko and her Team! They are well organised and with great communication. I would recommend having an Interior Designer for a larger-scale project (for us it was the whole ground floor) to bring clarity to your project and to help get the bigger picture which is overwhelming when you do not have the skills. With the help of Yoko, our renovation was upgraded from "a great house" to an amazing one! We are indeed very happy to have our house again and so well improved. We still have to readjust living in it and sometimes we cannot believe that this beautiful house is actually ours!

I brought in Yoko and her team to help me with my master bedroom loft conversion. I had already appointed the builders and obtained planning permission but I needed help with the layout of a large space (approx 40 sq metres) to include sleeping, dressing, exercising and an en-suite bathroom. I found the interactions extremely prompt, professional and productive. A detailed brief was taken of what my needs for the space were, and I was encouraged to share my aesthetic through Pinterest images. I have a strong interest in design and I know what I like, but interior design is not just all fun with finishes - it's hard! Getting measurements right, placement of utilities, lighting, storage, windows, etc. These are all things I knew I couldn't get right and I have no time to learn! I greatly enjoyed working with Yoko and Camelia on coming up with ideas. They always presented several options to me but not too many, making it easy for me to make a final decision. Sometimes the options didn't quite meet my needs, but they would be happy to take on my feedback and come back with more suggestions. The team worked really closely with my builders, taking a huge load off me. The burden of organising the logistics of each element were completely handled by Yoko's team. They kept me updated and asked me occasionally for my thoughts, but I trusted them to take care of the "boring" bits. They introduced me to ideas and materials that I hadn't considered before and sourced all the suppliers. I made clear that there were some elements that were very important to me and I wanted to source them. For example I wanted to search for certain vintage articles, or I had strong opinions on fabrics. We also worked through some problems when the lighting solution in the bathroom didn't work out, and they organised with the supplier for changes to be made free of charge. I never imagined that working with designers would pay off so handsomely. I am delighted with the results and I know I couldn't have achieved it without them.

She not only has a great eye, but is highly organised and clearly able to run large projects with pin point accuracy. Her schemes are beautiful, original and elegant. Yoko I feel, also treads a very good line (and difficult line) between keeping a strong sense of creative vision whilst still accommodating the client in the project. Most importantly however, Yoko has a wonderful style of working. She is very collaborative and a strong team player and not frightened of getting in experts where she feels she does not have the expertise. Yoko led the design of our recent renovation, which included a full kitchen extension, master bedroom extension & en-suite, living room redesign and relocation of utility room to basement. We were approached by Yoko Kloeden Design early on in 2018 regarding a project in London which required a bespoke dining table. Having established the base line requirements with her client Yoko was able to provide us with detailed plans and ideas of what she was looking for. We hired Yoko to help us finish furnishing and decorating our recently refurbished house, which we were struggling to do ourselves. Although we knew what sort of look we liked we found it hard to put together a coherent design and so decided an interior designer was the answer. We are now absolutely thrilled with the beautiful home that Yoko has created for us. Our house is now a home! From the first meeting Yoko has been a pleasure to work with, she is extremely well organised, and the communication was excellent throughout the project. She always answers queries straight away and kept a close eye on all the details so we never felt that we were managing a project ourselves. Yoko has great taste and a great eye for detail, I'm honestly surprised how many things she found for us that I love which I would never have found for myself when looking for things for the house. She also helped us introduce a lot more colour into our home which I was keen to do but wasn't sure how. Yoko is very design focussed and keen on getting the asthetic right, but was also very practical in her designs as we have small children. She would never chose style over substance and I'm sure our home will continue to be a joy to live in for many years. I wholeheartedly recommend Yoko to anyone wanting to create a beautiful home.

AMP Architecture

We collaborated with Yoko Kloeden Design on the extension and refurbishment of a family house in Richmond. She was a pleasure to work with. The clients were after an open plan layout which was in danger of becoming one vast clinical space, but Yoko’s interior proposals managed to create zones within the space, whilst maintaining the overall vision for the property that the clients were after. Her designs reference a range of influences, possibly owing to her international outlook and experience in difference cultures. She is creative but practical, avoids short-lived trends, and makes sure that the designs have longevity and allows for flexibility (which is a key factor is designing a ‘forever home’ for a family). We would highly recommend her services.

We refurbished our entire flat which involved updating everything and some structural alterations. Yoko was in charge of the project from start to finish. She is creative, client focused and excellent in project management. As it was our first renovation project, we did not know where to start. During the first meeting, Yoko laid out a clear roadmap using visual examples from her past projects so we understand what each process requires. We liked her design/artistic sense, and her organised approach and communication manner gave us confidence in leaving the project in her hand. We wanted to make the flat modern and functional, but not cold and boring. We wanted character, warmth, and elegance. Yoko proposed multiple designs that go with our vague ideas as well as something we had not thought of, which we appreciated and gladly adopted. She worked around various constraints such as space, budget, and functionality without sacrificing the design quality. Yoko managed sourcing, schedule and various trades. She has been always responsive to our queries and requests, and flexible in making changes where possible. The interior designs for the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, hallway, joinery works and lightings were beautifully weaved throughout the flat, with each room having different themes and colour combinations. We are very happy with the outcome of the renovation and would recommend Yoko wholeheartedly.
