Agree with all the suggestion, def need a blind. With regards to clothes think about how much you need to store, on hangers or can be folded. I have tiny wardrobe but with shelves so holds loads it was an up-cycled old gentlemen's wardrobe I think. A friend is just making hanging wardrobe from old wooden ladder. She saw idea on pin interest.

Ikea have a headboard which you can fit behind your own bed and eliminate the bedside units gaining more space for nightstand use and quilt storage underneath. It will give you some more privacy from the window too. Eventually a roman blind would be more appropriate too. The remaining wall at the side of the window can be used for hanging shelving like the ikea kallax. Open the space visually by simply adding a larger mirror to a side wall and hang hats scarves and even coats on pegs along the opposite wall. Use the space above the entryway door for shelving or closed cupboards and fit in a corner wardrobe. If you can remove the door or get it to swing outward. If you consider changing the bed for an underbed storage one it must have a hydraulic mechanism otherwise it is a nightmare. But you can find some storage bags or boxes that slide under the existing bed - just measure properly and try to make the best of the space. Alternatively you could change the bed completely to a high up loft base with a ladder and have ample space beneath it. Check the ikea Stora and others too.

Just an update on this project: done by my husband in 1/2 day with budget = Nil. Basically he lowered the bed and used the bed protection planks to be the supporting basis for the 2 shelves which have been turned into cupboards... might not be the final product but will do for the moment.

I also had a play at some layout options. What MATH suggested is exactly what I was thinking and what we have in our own bedroom which is very similar. So on the plans I’ve used a standard uk double size for the bed 135x195cm. Wardrobes are roughly 60cm in depth. The bed facing the window doesn’t work imo because there’ll be no room to walk round the other side. Personally I like the wardrobes fitted on the back wall which gives you room for a chest of drawers in the larger alcove and a large floor standing mirror or art work could go on the chimney breast wall. These are all rough estimates of the size of the room so definitely measure first if you plan to buy any new furniture.
