How to tie open-plan kitchen/ living/ dining room areas together?
Comments (13)I agree with many of the suggestions above, especially that there's too much furniture in the living room. You're going to hate me for saying this but I think there's too much clutter and busyness overall for such a small space. I'd radically reduce the number of pictures and knick-knacks in both rooms – especially the living room – and move the ones you keep to less prominent places. I'd also take the coat rack and cookery bookshelves out completely, and replace the busy parquet flooring with either not-busy plank laminate or a simple-patterned or solid rug. Finally, I like trees but that spidery palm tree is hideous IMO....See MoreHello iv just bought a flat with a small living area, not sure what ty

As it is not a huge room I would make sure they are not too deep. Also a rug in front of them on the floor will make the room feel really homely and a small table at the end near the door would be useful for coffee, magazines etc.. As well as a table in the corner between the sofas. Try not to get arms that are hugely wide as this also takes up valuable space without adding much to the overall design....See MoreHow to draw everything in together and also want to lift the room
Comments (13)I'm not sure I understand what is is that you want (probably just me)! Do you feel the whole room is too dark and want to repaint it or do you want to add more colour or something else? If the room is not naturally light then no other curtains will lighten it. Saturated colour can lift a poorly lit room in that it can add interest and make things cosy but not lighter. The warm mustard/yellow cushion catches my eye, that is the colour I would be going for if anything. It's a lovely room....See MoreHelp with bringing an open plan room together
Comments (13)Beautiful kitchen, and I too love the curtains. Are they Laura Ashley? I think there aren’t enough rings on the pole and that’s why the curtains are dipping a bit. You can buy extra curtain rings which will make a huge difference. I also thing a tie back hook on each curtain will tidy things up a bit If there is space. That wall is crying out for a nice bold colour on it and I think Inchyra Blue will do the trick. It is such a lovely teal-green-blue and will bring in another element to the room. I also like De Nimes. I also think a chocolate hue on the wall will tie in nicely with the taupe of your units, but may be a bit dark! A nice neutral rug in taupe or grey would finish the look.
