POLL: Real or Computer Enhanced Image?
Comments (6)I sometimes use Corel to balance contrast and brightness in my photos, so I'm sure lots of other people do it. If you are a good enough photographer and have the right equipment (with separate flash light for night shooting) enhancement is not necessary. If you have a good knowledge of any graphic design computer program, then you can play with your photos and perfect your already perfect pics :)) So I wouldn't be surprised if the photo is actually real, the most it had done was probably some contrast adjustment just to sharpen the details....See MorePOLL: Real versus fake?
Comments (6)I completely agree with Alan, very well said! My husband often buys originals, I'm actually not so keen. Firstly, because whilst I appreciate the innovative process, crafting techniques and often mastery involved in creating a new product, I often find the price to be unjustifiably high. For example, how can some of the Kartell products (which are not high-end, but not exactly cheap either) justify their price? It's just moulded plastic (and some a bit tacky too, in my opinion http://www.ariashop.co.uk/bourgie-table-lamp-multi-pink.html) Secondly, for a very personal reason. I'm often absent-minded and a bit clumsy (a lot, says hubby); having a £5000 vase that I can knock down with my elbow would just be an added stress for me and I don't need it. I live in a home, not a museum, I don't want to hear "but that bowl you just chipped is a unique Daum crystal" (true story!) And lastly - someone designed something 70 years ago, s/he died and now his family or whoever owns the pattern doesn't allow any kinds of replicas or even products with a slight resemblance to the original - and threatens whoever does it with law suits and high penalties. Well, excuse me, but I wasn't alive 70 years ago, maybe I would've designed that first. I find it idiotic that someone who had no direct contribution in creating something will still milk that product/ concept decades later just because their mother/father had a great idea one day and they inherited the design rights (I really don't like you, the Calder Foundation people!)...See MorePOLL: What's the colour of your front door?
Comments (31)Well, black and white are the most popular colours so that's not a bad thing, Icon Wall Stickers!...See MorePOLL: Do you have a fireplace in your living room?
Comments (50)A flickering flame surrounded by ancient carved stone - Antique stone fireplaces add both character and a sense of place to any room, the knocks and bumps of the decades nay centuries, connecting hearth to home. Even with the advent of central and underfloor heating we crave that focal gathering point that a fireplace provides - a room without a fireplace? Nowhere to hang the picture, mirror or tapestry, no were to put your cards and certainly no place to hang your Christmas stocking!...See MoreTom Flanagan
