How is the light in this room? This weekend there has been a post here to vote on your favorite black room and there have been some stunners! I voted for the foyer, but you should search in the box above for black bedroom and for metallic wallpaper ceiling.. Also search for metallic paint, metallic wallpaper. I think the paper is dramatic and would be beautiful with black walls, bronze metallic ceiling and you didn't mention the floor, so I won't go there. Really, try the black!

Love that peach! I would consider painting the ceiling a silvery gray in a semi-gloss. I'm loving the C2 grays and the new Color Stories by Benjamin Moore grays. With that kind of color on the walls and black accents, you could end up really reducing the impact if the ceiling is white. Enjoy - and as a rule of thumb, always select a color that is a step or two more muted than you want the overall effect to be. Sometimes our language center in our brain can get in the way of really seeing the color - so the more you are thinking "peach" the more you may end up with "orange" rather than a soft blushing color that is so feminine and beautiful. Also - soften the black a bit to a deep charcoal. It will make it look just every so mildly faded, which is lovely with old black and white photography. Cheers - R

Might be time to call in someone to help onsite - F&B have colourists who visit - as do Laura Ashley and then there's a whole host of independent designers - the main issue, I believe, when you want to get a look that's the same in both rooms - is the light ... you probably will need two shades of the same colour - one lighter for the darker room and one darker for the lighter room - then they should give the same tonal feel from one room to the next ( speaking from experience in my own home - I'm a planning geek not a colourist !) I think that little Greene do shades of the same colours - and obviously dulux do - ie choose from the same paint sample card - but if you really can't find the right shade - I'd strongly suggest you ask for someone to come to see what light/dark situation you have and they can advise accordingly ! It will be worth the investment!!

Update - alabaster painted oak units, oak worktop, (curved end units and worktop corners) belfast sink, 1100 stainless steel rangemaster porcelain large high gloss ivory 600x600 floor tiles, ivory grout - please see attached look book just still to decide on shade of sage on walls - deciding between F&B Mizzle, Vert De Terre, Ball Green and Cooking Apple Green... Also metro sub/way tiles on walls - whether to go for a sage tile or cream/white... The dining room area off the kitchen will have oak parquet floor which will follow through from hall and will also be in the lounge but Im thinking of following the wall colour in the kitchen through to the dining room for continuity and potentially painting the chimney brest or wall furthest away from and facing the kitchen a darker green complementary colour... Thoughts please
