You aren't necessarily going to gain extra space to store more bottles. Because you aren't changing the overall volume. Depending how handy you are. One option is to cut two sheets of material to the size of the opening, width and height - so it looks like you have two doors. Then use a hole saw, 75mm, too drill as many holes as you can get in the board leaving enough room between holes to keep structural integrity. Repeat in the second board with the same spacing or secure both boards together, temporarily and drill both sets of holes together. Finally install 4 spacer blocks to create the depth required to support the neck and base of the bottle. Fill holes and paint to your desired colour. The boards should look like a piece of Swiss cheese when finished. Well it won't but you hopefully get the principle. Hope that helps.

It has all the woodwork around it for a door, but the door is missing, which doesn't help with the odd look. It's ok to turn it into a shelf only area, but you really need to remove the woodwork, which is making it look like a cupboard missing a door. Alternatively, if you don't want the hassle of roughing up the plaster & having to repair it when you remove the architrave, then put a door back on it. Traditionally Pantry's are a little larger and are for storing tins and jars of food. Are you going to use it for that? Do you want that on show? You could have shelves with baskets / boxes to keep everything hidden and tidy. Another idea would be to take a portion of the left hand wall down, open up the space as per picture 3 below and make it a larger open Pantry / Shelf design. Decision is yours alone x

Hi Kate, just personal opinion but I prefer the straight pantry. The main run with the corner pantry doesn’t feel balanced with the size of the island and leaves little worktop space for kettle, toaster etc and not (personally) keen on the island shape. I remember this Houzz tour which is very similar to your corner layout, I wasn’t keen but a lot of people seemed to like it so I may be the outsider! I do wonder if a sliding door would be better on the straight pantry, where the door opens would leave you room for recycling etc on the floor. What is the unit between the radiators? Just wonder if it’s better centred to the window as or aligned with the island? Will there be heating in the dogs room? what will the storage in the island be used for as the island is pretty deep and not so accessible behind stools? I’d also be a bit wary of hot oil splashes from the hob. I also prefer the larger utility with the straight pantry. Would a door outside not work In this plan? I personally don’t dry clothes outside other than in warm months, so just wondering if there’s heating planned for in here and potentially a sliding door could work well here too (just thinking of fighting with the clothes drier as you open the door!) If i understand correctly what b&q have told you is that any 'blind' corner unit they supply, the only way that the door is hinged is from the side panel, ie the left hand corner unit has a left hand blank panel [as its tucked away under the corner] and the door is hinged off the right hand side panel and the handle is in the corner, this is the complete opposite to the rest of the industry, for any corner unit the door would be hinged off the centre post. Looking at the b&q website they even shows the door hinged off the centre post. As 'standard' a corner unit with a 400 door would be made using an 800 unit with a 200-230 void [blanking panel and corner post]. With a 900 unit the centre post is set up for a 450 door [not sure if it can be moved as they have a top metal rail] so a 400 door has to hinge from the side panel. Again looking on their website they have corner pull outs to fit inside 800 corner units and the door is hinged off the centre post so they do have 800 corner units - maybe its an up selling technique they use making you buy their corner pull outs. I'd go back into the shop and have a look at their displays if you have the the doors hinged the way it looks [with the handles in the corners] then you'll need 155 or more degree hinges [for easier access] and your doors could end up banging into the oven handle and getting damaged, also ask why the corner unit is a 900 instead of 800, did you ask for a bigger corner unit? Could be you were unlucky and had a sales person who can't design kitchens
