How can we make our bedroom cozier??
Comments (31)You can move the bed 50 cms off the wall and create a shelving but do NOT fill it with objects. Keep it symmetrical when decorating. Alternatively, you can make it open towards the window to store your linen or other items instead of leaving it exclusively as a shelving. Secondly, to make it cozier, I would re paint the walls in a warm color such as Burgundy and fit curtains in burgundy and gold colors in front of the window. The bottom wallpaper can be replaced with likewise design in silver/grey or black/gold (prominent color being the first one) Bed cover and pillows to blend with the wall and wallpaper colors you choose. That will make it cozier to start with. You will then need adequate light to compensate the dark colors. Ideally smaller lights spread evenly over the ceiling or square lights and two neat lamps on either side of the shelving over the bed. (Can also be fitted onto the wall - Set them out evenly) A nice rug just in front of your bed will give you more of a cozy ambient and give you more warmth to the room. The colors themselves will match your bed, then you can do without the basket in front of the bed. Last, set your room evenly. If you wish to use the painting you already have, move it by the bed and put up another one on the opposite wall and fit a mirror instead of the where you currently have your painting. Move the cupboard opposite the painting, opposite to where you will have your mirror and you have a perfectly symmetrical and cozy room.... I hope my ideas are of help to you. Comments (6)Hello laine_bedford, Congratulations on moving into your new home! Definitely an exciting time for you and your family, and understandably a difficult task to start your re-decoration process. Here are some pointers: STEP 1: Get Inspired! - Create your own ideabook: - On the Houzz search bar, lookup 'Bedroom' and 'Hotel Room' and filter by your preferred design style; contemporary perhaps? - Please visit our page and check out our ideabook titled 'Creative Headboards'. STEP 2: Select Your Color Scheme! - Base Colour: Most 5 Star Resorts stick to neutral/earth tone colours, choosing to add splashes of colour through use of accessories (bed cushions, artwork, bed throw etc). However, main furniture (bed, bedside tables, table lamps, wardrobes and so forth) remain neutral and either all the same colour or similar. Same applies to the walls; neutral/earth tones. - Accent Colour: As recommended above, have fun choosing a colour(s) that you've been inspired by for your bedroom accessories. This can also apply to your feature wall (where the bed headboard would go). STEP 3: Set You Budget! - Once you know how much you're willing to spend, only then can you make interior decoration decisions (type of headboard/extent of headboard, type of wardrobes, customised built-in-seating in the bay windows, curtains vs. blinds, carpet or wood flooring with rug(s) etc). STEP 4: Source Your FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Fittings) - Make a list of all the things you would need to purchase, prioritising the main pieces (bed, wardrobes etc) and, dependent on your budget, the stores you would need to visit. - Don't forget the bed linen; if you really want the contemporary 'hotel' look, stick to whites. Hope the above helps to get you started. We would be delighted to help you further so please do not hesitate to contact us....See MorePlease can anyone help with a Design Plan for our Bedroom?
Comments (12)Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing the finished room - it will look stunning I am sure! all the best, Gina...See MoreHi dear we bought 3 bedroom house i wanna make it modern 4 bedroom hou
