Country Kitchen needing a bit of spark
Comments (7)LOVE THE KITCHEN ITS COSY AND CUTE. I WOULD TREAT IT AS A JEWEL BOX. I WOULD PAINT IT ALL, CUPBOARDS AND BEADBOARD WALLS EMERALD GREEN, FIRED EARTH KING GEORGE. THEN TEAM WITH OAK WORKTOP. THEN ADD SOME MORE LIGHTS UNDER UPPER CABINETS, ADD COPPER PANS TO WARM IT UP. CAMERON DIAZ NEW YORK APARTMENT IS LIKE THAT....See MoreHelp! Comments (13)You have a lovely home to work with. I would say don't underestimate mirrors for making a room look twice as big. Have you considered giant mirrors, or mirroring an entire wall? How about the curved wall? I would pay attention to lighting also, as great lighting can make your home look a million dollars and more spacious. I would make a focal point with television resting on a gorgeous storage cabinet, place wall picture frames on wall where tv is placed, this will draw attention to the art and cabinet rather than the tv itself. I would get highback armchairs and use them for both dining and lounge seating with a sofa. I like those Victorian card tables on wheels, that fold up, multipurpose. Only buy furniture you absolutely love, don't follow trends, follow your heart, after all you want to feel good at home. Don't be half-hearted follow your dreams, be confident. When you fully execute your interior passion you'll be happy and others who come to your home will sense you and credit your style as being authentic, true to you and they will love it as much as they love you....See MoreRustic/Country Ideas!
Comments (17)hi Okay - when you are able, I would think about getting another sofa similar to the one you have. That will give some balance. I have devised a design board below. Since you wanted rustic/country I have gone for green which is actually hot right now. However, to keep it edgy I have gone for sage green. The curtains and cushions are all available from Dunelm and have the rustic but country look you desire. Behind the leather sofa I would put a wall of wood effect paper - the texture and colour helps to warm the room up. This is also from Dunelm (keeps the shopping trips and cost down!) To add further interest I would incorporate some metal lamps - copper is wonderfully warm but also can have a masculine edge to avoid anything looking to chintzy. I have also included a large wire basket in which to store fluffy cosy throws to keep the room warm. I would finally incorporate some plants - galvanised tin pots are a nice twist and wooden accents such as candlesticks etc. I hope you like this xj...See MoreModern Country Kitchen - finishing touches
Comments (16)i think its really nice! i agree about removing the fake flowers (maybe replace with fairy lights if you want something up there?) I think it needs a bit of pattern to add depth - maybe a patterned blind, as suggested above. You could also go a bit darker with the paint - something to contrast more against the cupboards. i think you could go as dark as F&B Downpipe to add some richness. Otherwise, a pair of largeish pics on the left-hand wall?...See More- 11 years ago
