Comments (26)Just used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White on a solid pine unvarnished wardrobe. I watched YouTube tutorials and got advice from the shop that sold me the paint. I HATE it! Really difficult to work with, paint brush drags making my hand ache. I was told 1 or 2 coats would do but had to use 3 and I can still see the wood through it. I was told it would only use up half a pot of paint, but it has used nearly all of it. The chap who advised me (sells painted furniture for a living) said it can be finished with wax (hard work) or a Matt varnish (easier). He showed me furniture in these finishes and I chose the varnish. It was really easy to apply but has accentuated the wood colouring underneath. I'm so annoyed that after all my hard work it looks pretty rank. I wish I had used traditional primer and satinwood paint instead!...See MoreRules of materials used in a room?
Comments (20)Without seeing the room it is very hard to picture what would go, but blues, greys and whites do tone well with rich woods or the paler woods. I think you can mix woods as long as they are similar in tone, but too much of a mish mash of woods can look odd. I have dark oak laminate floors and oak tv cabinet and side tables. I did have some ginger pine bookcases but I’ve painted them instead as it was a bit too orange! I like this picture which is wood overload and still beautiful:-...See MoreKitchen Transformation With Natural Materials
Comments (22)Hi HU-741044459 , its difficult to give a cost on this kitchen as so much work was under taken to achieve the end result, plus a lot of special materials were chosen. Im sure you understand this there are now so many options for homeowners to choose from...the best advise I can give is try and give yourself a realistic budget that you are comfortable with, and then go and have a chat with your local independent kitchen specialist. Good luck and thank you for your question....See MoreAdam
