Dining room design

I have decided to go with this grey design for my dining room however I was going to use cream instead of white as the furniture I have is beech colour. also would it look right with the grey on top? The room is narrow and doesn't get a huge amount of light...any thoughts?

If you were to say, have grey on top and cream on the bottom - with the beech furniture... You will need to be careful as grey is quite a bold colour. With the room being that size, a dark colour can often make a room appear even smaller. If you are not bothered by this, maybe adding some matching home items to the room can make it look more fitting! Sometimes having split wall colours with a different colour for the furniture can sometimes look a little messy, depending on the chosen colours.

Following this, white over grey will probably be better for you rather than the cream, in my opinion - as then, there are not too many colours floating about. That might also be easier for you. Good luck with your decorating!

This will look lovely! I personally would stick with white over beige, even with beech, but that's my preference. Grey will look good on top, as long as it's not too dark. Grey and white looks better than grey and beige I think. And you can always stain the furniture if you don't like the way it looks when it's done?

Welllll... I have replaced the lights with very basic Ikea flush lights and painted the end wall dark grey. I like it much better already. Am planning to put something (not sure what that elusive something is!) on the grey accent wall, and possibly a line of frames on the long wall. I'm going to lose the pineapples (I have another location for them) and probably get something else to go on the 3 windowsills. All set for 18 guests tomorrow!!

Guys, please help!! Is it just me so something is still off??..is everything too bland...? Today we have received our rug and some other accessories.. and it seems that cushions and a throw are too much, so will return those...and will use light purple throw. But for some reason I have a feeling that something isn't just right..have I gone completely mad?.. Please let me know what you think of this..! And apologies about the dog, he just loves being in a centre of everything :) thank you!!!!

If you want the room to look bigger use the grey below the dado rail. If you want to use cream then I would try a stone coloured beige. Look at farrow and balls elephant breath and slipper satin

Thanks again. I've been and chosen chic shadow by dulux for the bottom. white dado rail and timeless which is an off white for the top. curtains. .. was going to go for silver maybe?

Maybe try a shade of purple as light or as dark as you want although do bear in mind the light if you go dark. The right shade of silver should work but if you want a slightly warmer feel try amethyst
