Comments (12)Look for old wood privacy fence boards cast offs or placed at the curb or better yet call your local fence companies or installers and request that they either save it for you or let you know where the old boards are being disposed of. You can usually find a few boards still with enough meat on their bones to veneer a small space with. Use them to veneer an accent wall or a headboard as you might. These could also be re-sawn in half edgewise by a band saw for more of a true veneer. Save the scraps as test pieces for your finish choices....See MoreHelp with bedroom please
Comments (88)Hi Katie, we want to recommend a curtain that would go nicely with your headboard! Our Fryetts Harrow Mink curtain would be a good match, however we also have several natural shades that would look lovely in this room! Have a look on our website: www.custom-curtains.co.uk We hope this helps!...See MoreChenille or crushed velvet headboard?
Comments (40)Hey Tani. That's a shame you haven't found one yet. I finally found window shutters tall enough this week after month of searching ( and on the same day of emailing for a quote to have them made typically!) I do think the upholstered frame would be relatively quick and easy? In terms of the door, if you go for a single door, I would pop a bit of architrave on top. I Think the silver leaf could be very expensive and the delicacy of it may be at odds with the thickness of the door ( or there again that could actually make it work!). I quite like the idea of double doors but how tall is the ŵall? I think if you go for that option I would personally have a very distressed effect with white and grey paint, something like the attached ( hopefully less work). I would pile on the texture with the bed though https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/201767350/headboard-vintage-door-replica-by-foo?ref=market...See MoreTwin beds against chimney breast help
Comments (16)Sadly we can't move the door. It's a bungalow and all the doors are next to each other so it will open onto someone coming down the stairs. Beds won't fit against the papered wall as door hits them. We have found the best place is against the chimney and as Mary says, we are going to get a large sheet of ply and create one large headboard now (will pad and fabric over - as for what pattern or colour to go for, that's another dilemma!! 🤣). Then do a build in shelf that curves around to form side tables (think Colourhappy mentioned this as well) In the future - we think we are going to panel the whole wall up so it forms a flat wall and the panel sections in the alcoves will become cupboards for storage 😁 No time to do it now but I think in autumn we can design and get it made without little disruption. It would give us a good large wall then without compromising on space. now just need to work out how to dress the room 😱 - separate thread I think??...See MoreComfortable Dwelling
