I think that you need to leave a wider gap, 30cm is not wide and I think it will look like what it is, ie stopping the units so they don't get in the way of the french doors. I would go with a 60-80cm gap and make a useful feature out of it with floor to ceiling shelving. I've found a picture showing some shelving stepped back from regular depth units, so you get an idea. Another option is to use a rounded base unit if you like them and maybe put a stool or plant in the gap.

That’s good they will give you a sample. Had a quick look on their website and it looks a beautiful colour and I can see your dilemma. It has a grey-brown hue similar to F&B’s Mouses Back, well on my screen anyway! Were you able to view a kitchen, or at least a door, in it? Im not sure I would choose a kitchen just from a photo. Hi Jen, thanks for the respose. the range is pretty much flush with the front of the units. However the doors open past 180 degree so even if we pulled the range forward the door handles would hit the cupboards. i was hoping someone may have experienced the same issue and found slimer handles.

There is no budget way to do the changes you would like. Adding a larger sink to the island would in all probability involve changing the unit below and the work surface if it is an undermount sink. I cannot tell from your photograph. These costs in labour alone would be considerable not to mention a new island worktop. You may be able to swap in your fridge/freezer by removing some of the tall units. Try and find out who supplied the kitchen if you like the style and colour and see if you can get a quote from them. They will also tell you what is possible.
