Need help with kitchen layout!!
Comments (15)Wow! That looks great. The extension is similar to mine and seems like you are trying to shoehorn luxury items which you set your mind on before you decided on the kitchen. a couple of things to consider but make it suit your needs: Fridge freezer, if you want an American one bring it closer to the working area. Sinks in island is very Kurdistan / real housewives but what do you want to draw everyone's attention to on this facial point. (I kept mine empty, but can't convince other half to put cooker on it). island could have overhang on the 2 ends, loose a little storage but gain seating? what is the island made from? Consider sourcing out your own stone material like middle peak marble (Leicester) who are supplying me a 3000x1200 peice for less then half the price kitchen places offered 3000x900 and informed me that you can't go bigger. And the range is massive. microwave is too high and also too small, go for larder unit. move island to the right (birds eye view). How much value is that window offering with a bifold, that space could be used for more larder space/ microwave/ oven... Look at independent stores or joiners who can offer more flexibility on a build, you are gonna be paying a lot for this kitchen, play with different ideas now because if you are in my shoes, I will not afford to make changes later, kitchen for life. They may be able to build taller units to reduce the gap to the ceiling... You may want to box in the space above the units to make it look like a recess unit. consider bringing your fridge to the other end of your kitchen to make you kitchen triangle smaller. An integrated f/f is a cleaner finish and you could go 2 fridges top and 2 freezers bottom... But if you want America, get a plumbed in one. tiles are omg! Try the 600x600 Super White range from Tile-Buster (Leicester) whatever you decide to do, make it fit your life, and your regular routine / ambitions. Good luck....See MoreHelp needed - layout of kitchen/access to utility
Comments (25)Much better layout and use of space. You need to work out “what do you want in your utility room?” I have a single run of work surface with cupboards over it. It houses the boiler in one of the cupboards but all manner of junk in the others! Underneath the worksurface I have a freezer, a wine cooler, and two washer / dryers. These are all in one row. By NOT having a return on the work surface I have a back door into the utility room. You could do the same and therefore your problem is resolved. If you were to move your doorway of the utility room onto the other wall you could have the return on your worksurface if you wanted it, or you could use that wall as shoe storage. Instead of a door you could have an open archway, as I have, making the room more spacious and accessible to the kitchen. Our dog sleeps in the utility room and we use a foldaway stair gate to keep him in, so easy access to the room during the day, when we need it, but able to lock him in at night when we want to. We also have a dog flap in the utility door so the dog has access to the garden whenever he wants, a very useful feature!...See MoreKitchen layout help needed
Comments (5)Hi - there’s two options for obtaining a kitchen design usually ... Either going to somewhere that sells kitchen and they will do one for you for free, in the hope that you will buy from them. (They make a markup on what you buy to cover their costs and make a profit.) they most likely won’t let you take the design away with you though. Or you can pay for an independent design to be done with you involved at each stage... it means you can approach any shops and ask them to price your layout more like a tradesman might do - so often you can ask for discounts etc and you can easily compare like for like with quotes as they are all the same layout. (If it were us - we’d work on your project over a Monday to Friday time slot, but unlike like most build trades we price per project and not a day rate - so your kitchen would be about the same price as a good dishwasher.) Either way you get a design done to suit your space - the second way it suits your lifestyle and family too as you are involved with the design process. If this house is a long term home it’s probably worth getting it designed specifically for you ( independent route ).... if you are doing up the house to sell then a generic plan will usually be fine ( first option ). Hope that helps !...See MoreKitchen layout, help needed!
Comments (4)Hi Leighton, Beautiful extension. I completely see a bank of tall units and storage on the wall between the two doors, then an L shaped kitchen ending in a curved end by the steps to the sitting room. There would be space for a 90cm wide island if you wanted, slightly under the 1m rule but if that's ok with you and it's not too long, I think that would be fine whilst creating somewhere to sit and additional workspace. If you want any help visualising the new space before spending a lot of money on a new kitchen, get in touch and we can have a chat about how I might be able to help you Emily x...See MorePWJ Architects Ltd
