Of course you can use any fancy wallpaper you want but I assumed the reason you were asking if it was "too much" was to avoid making an expenxive mistake. If you want to choose something that works vs something you like that doesn't work, that's your decision. The wallpaper is beautiful and would look lovely in a bedroom, dining room or powder room but not a den with heavy leather sofas. The wallpaper and sofas don't compliment each other. Please assert your femininity in another room--a den isn't supposed to be feminine. It would be like painting the walls pink. Find some magazines with pictures of rooms with leather sofas and notice how they've been accessorized. Do you want an honest answer to "does this dress make my butt look big" or are you going to wear the dress no matter?

Good news is that I've chosen some curtains - a neutral pleated set, with a black out lining, from John Lewis that go with the wallpaper background without being sparkly...! On the off-chance that someone has experience with fitting curtains on awkward walls, can anyone recommend what sort of curtain rail / tracking to use for this window? I.e. a couple of inches of wall space to the left, and zero to the right of the window... Thanks!

We've got excellent light in the room (actually, we're lucky with light in most of the house). The window in the room is quite sizeable for the room and is right next to the wall that will be painted. I was thinking green because I read somewhere that it was the best colour for studies as it's the colour that's least effort for your eyes to see (or something like that haha!), but I've been seeing a lot of mavy and teal around and am loving it. My OH actually loves the dark green and I'm currently talking him out of wanting to paint our reception rooms in it!

Hi leo and grace, this is a cool looking wallpaper, very nice but in a north east facing room I would suggest you boost the colour up a bit. Bedrooms should always avoid yellow - it doesn't help you sleep. So here are a few suggestions... Liberty matt Amborella, it's soft and very pretty without being too 'pink'. It will work really well with your grey wallpaper and you could take this all the way around the room. This blue green is Royal Academy - Glass Beach, it's a gorgeous colour, and very restful. My final suggestion, and one that adds a bigger punch of colour, is Royal Academy -Sand Glass. I don't suggest you paint this all the way around the room but rather use it in combination with a grey that perfectly matches one of the greys in the wallpaper. I visualise stripes!
