I think you have a blank canvas to add some colour into the room. I think teal and purple accessories such as bedding/throw could work well with a shaggy rug for some texture.

Hi - are you set on having something matching either side of the bed? We had a similar issue so we turned a white wooden crate on its side on one side of the bed and put some books in it and a lamp on it and then the other side we had a small percentage me bedside unit that I painted white and we used the same lamp on so it pulled them together. The crate was small enough to use on the tight side. Another option could be too build a shelf over the bed - I know the pic is showing a living room but the same principle applies I also like the look lights in the other pic that deliberately go for an exposed cable look and would mean they are not actually restoring on a unit but they are not for everyone.

I think as long as most of it is controllable this is a perfect plan. Make sure you can switch on separate lights to create different moods, warm white bulb choices in my opinion are easier to live with (although natural white works well if you prefer dark wall colours) and dimmers are invaluable.
