A grey could look nice, with legs that are tapered so that it lifted off the floor which will help with space or if you want to add more colour you could go for the dark blue which is in your rug. Years ago when I studied design one of the first things we were told to do was look at the whole room, where the natural light falls and use the space to make the most of this. This wall would look completely different depending on where the windows are so just to suggest painting it a dark colour may not be the best idea. What colour is the rest of the room? Also there is a radiator behind the sideboard, may be a problem when choosing paint, as this would have to be the same colour for a cohesive look. Is that a cat on the sideboard? I think you may have to look again at the room as a whole, if you are going to repaint the whole room stick with a feature colour to compliment the problem wall, don’t just waste your money guessing, buy some tester pots that match what you already have and you are happy with on the colour you have on the other walls. The STRING system is nice but unfortunately the widest module is 80cm, it will definitely not work with a TV. The main thing to keep in mind is that in your case the system should not be chosen in the color of natural wood. Black or white. Hi Rachel, I would be tempted to paint it a softer grey like farrow & ball Ammonite or even Farrow & ball Cornforth. With a softer grey you will find the sideboard will not feel as strong in the room, allowing you for the navy chairs & sofa's to take center stage in the room.
