I prefer the taller one. Can you add more pics of the room as the pieces seem to work well together? It just seems to be a scale, balance issue with the small art, lamp etc

More pics and I think it’s bland too but not sure how to resolve I’m not into very bright colours but I love them in other people’s homes. Would love to know about scale minnie101!

First of all, it would be important to understand what the function of a particular sideboard will be. The lower one will definitely fit better under the TV. From the design point of view, the highest sideboard is definitely a winner, the decor on it will also look better - it can already be felt in the picture. The finishing of the high sideboard will also be more practical and sustainable.

The taller sideboard would stay in that space but that would mean the lower one would need replacing with something else so it doesn’t clash - I’ve no idea what though!

In that case, I would recommend putting a low sideboard under the TV in a black that matches the fireplace or white that matches the walls. The sideboard can be either very modern or classic with decorative elements such as fireplace trim. Be sure to avoid another wooden sideboard :)

Taller sideboard for me. I like the height, style and I think it works better with your other mid century lounge/ armchairs.

I think the tv side could do with upper shelves and a slim lower unit as ELINA suggested.

A mid century shelving system (authentic or replica) could work.

The STRING system is nice but unfortunately the widest module is 80cm, it will definitely not work with a TV.

The main thing to keep in mind is that in your case the system should not be chosen in the color of natural wood. Black or white.

The easiest solution would be to make a bespoke unit that fits exactly the size you need.

My vote is also for the taller one and I agree with the great advice to use a Ladderax or String-type system in the other alcove.

I absolutely love your mid-century chair in grey & teak (?). Is it vintage or repro. If the latter, I wonder who sells them. Really hope I am not being cheeky to ask but it is just what I am looking for.

Hiya thanks for your input much appreciated. Sorry I have two mid century chairs. If you mean the velvet one it’s from Lombok but unfortunately they went into receivership a couple of years ago but someone like west elm might do similar.
