Living room - colour dilemma
Comments (6)Hi. Thanks for reply. hit the nail on the head - cream is too yellow, will check out greige offwhites.. Room zoned - dining area is natural riven slate, greys. Also have dark pine wooden panelling across the dining end to cover the rad, goes across the whole wall. Happy to paint but the wood is beautiful, looks quite rustic. Dining table is big and chunky, wooden with black leather dining chairs. Living end has dusky, minky coloured carpet with darker brown random flecks in it. Black leather sofas. Curtains are rich browns, reds and creams, very heavy and rich looking - think I need to change them. I will see if I can work out how to upload some pics when I get back home! useless at that sort of stuff!!!...See MoreHow to paint awkward bedroom
Comments (4)Hi Felicity Thought I would check in and give my six-penny worth! Consider Muriva™ Sparkle Glamour Real Glitter Bug Wallpaper in Teal as back feature. Muriva are British based and have a large range of different designs. We met their Sales manager a year ago and some Wow schemes including industrial. The Teal glitter would make a statement (see image) on the back wall behind your new bed, coupled with the contrasting comforter set (image also). To complement the colouration suggest a duck egg blue paint over the rest of the room. Hope this stimulates the creative flow? Comments (16)Black or dark grey will look great too,. There are lots primer products that help block the dark stains and varnishes and lots of youtube tutorials on how to paint over dark wood in case you decide to go white. I would agree with Sonia in that you should divide the project up. Maybe forget about the rest of the house and just focus on the fireplace as your only project. Seeing a complete project is always good motivation to complete another. Regarding the burgundy tiles. Although I don't normally recommend painting tiles, if they are in a low "traffic" and low moisture area then painting them is an option. It doesn't look like your fire place is used to light fires? If not, another option is adhesive vinyl tiles, bear with me! We put down wood effect vinyl tiles in the front entrance a while back as a temporary measure. The previous owners had cream coloured carpet! I couldn't stand it, so I used vinyl tiles as a quick cheap solution, but I've been really impressed with how they look and how durable they've been. Now I don't have any plans to change them. They come in so many options from wood to marble to Victorian tile. And best of all its a very DIY'able project, its cheap so if you don't like it just peel them off. They are rigid enough that the grout lines from your tiles wont show through. I've attaced some examples of the many many options available....See MoreHallway colour help!
