Hi, I'd paint all the walls in the same warm neutral. The current white seems rather cold. So I would warm that up with something like F&B Skimming Stone. I'd add a patterned rug and throw light coloured cushions on the sofa. I would keep shelves in the recesses next to the chimney. Would be nice with one or two plants and some nice decorative items. And if in budget, replace the vertical blinds with roman blinds or even a roller blind. Perhaps a semi sheer one.

I like both suggestions by At No 19 with the additional thought that if you go for an ottoman a round one would tie in with the sideboard design. I'd definitely try to add extra colour and texture to your scheme to give the room interest. Unless your lounge is huge, I think it's both practical and fun to have several smaller pieces that can easily be moved around the room to provide as coffee table and/or extra seating. The space then becomes more flexible and the floor isn't taken up with a large piece of furniture in the centre of it. I’m at my desk in the family room and my husband has set up office in the dining room. Teenage son is studying in his bedroom and daughter is home schooling between my husband and I - depending on who has meetings etc and is most available to help. She’s using an ottoman for a desk with footstool to sit on when with me and is at the opposite end of the dining room table when she’s with her dad. My top tip is to clear all work/study/school stuff away at the end of every day to give us our home back again. I put my laptop etc into my rucksack and stash that away in the cupboard and my husband and daughter have a drawer each that I cleared out in the dining room sideboard at the start of lockdown, for all their school and work stuff. When I’m finished working, I open the windows to let all the work vibes out, light a lovely smelling candle and I’m home.

Hi Jill, As you were already advised, it all depends what you want to achieve. A comfortable snug (in our opinion always complemented with darker warmer colours) or a lively, summery escape on those rainy days (that we had many off recently) when we would definitely advise you to go with light tones as Julie from Rawding Interiors advised.
