colour scheme with this sofa

Please could I get some advice on a colour scheme to go with this teal velvet sofa?
It won’t have the cushions.
Need advice on a rug, wall colour, floor, accessories?

Comments (13)Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated. So I'm kind of stuck with the chaise as it is but could move it to another room (at the cost of moving the problem elsewhere). It's not actually mine so I don't really want to go to the expense of reupholstering it. The chest also isn't mine, but I'll have them both for a few years yet. If I move the chaise I'd probably have to swap it for a deep red rocking chair I have in another room (see pic), which would again influence the colour scheme. The sofa would fit under the window but there's a radiator there so it's not really ideal. I'll look into moving the TV point though as that would allow me to have chaise / rocking chair and sofa on two walls together. I agree that the blinds are an issue so I think I'll try to get either a glass covering instead, or some white blinds. I may even paint the windows white too if I'm brave enough. For the walls, I liked your mock up Carolins and the suggestions to use a light grey. That's what I was already considering. Still can't decide whether to have a dark grey feature wall, but it's tempting. I agree with the accent colour suggestions - I really like pink or yellow with grey. Comments (2)I’d echo the colours from the kitchen, for a simple,cohesive look. Also blends in well with the view outside too ! Then you can add bright or muted tones in your cushions etc to suit your mood or the seasons ( as cushion covers are quick to change and easy to store)...See More- 5 years ago

Same room and same sofa - you can create a nice and calm room if you go for a combination of natural colours and materials.

As you were already advised, it all depends what you want to achieve. A comfortable snug (in our opinion always complemented with darker warmer colours) or a lively, summery escape on those rainy days (that we had many off recently) when we would definitely advise you to go with light tones as Julie from Rawding Interiors advised. When you have plenty of light anything is possible-one of our clients went with bold colours to energise this city central studio.

5 years agoHere’s some ideas from Pinterest. Teal velvet how fab! Teal goes well with yellow cushions, but also mixed neutral shades like the first pic below. I woukd keep the walls an off white, but I think dusky pink would also look good. I recently bought a rug from Dunelm called The Parker and it comes in neutrals or blues and think the blue one May look good.
