Help!!! living/dining area update ideas

We bought this place 10 yrs back and since then we haven't made any changes. Now that our son is 10 yrs old and stopped jumping on the couch and drawing on the walls, we'd like to see some changes. But my brains are fried...(i think). Please give some suggestions about color scheme., position of tv, couch, anything we can do to make current Tv wall look better? We have a rectangular room with a small balcony on one side. I do a bit of craft/art to give it some change time to time.But now I think our room deserves a makeover. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks
