Help with designing blank canvas living room
Comments (101)Hi, it's coming along thanks! I was meaning to post updated pictures when all the furniture arrives next week. I'm not getting notifications either for some reason so I didn't see your post till now. There's still so much to do though - very slow progress. We still need a new TV, piano, and wall art for this room. There is a lot of wall space so not really sure what size, how many, or where to position the wall art. I don't want to overdo it, and I think I want to avoid toooo much purple!...See MoreHelp with layout for living room needed / blank canvas
Comments (4)Hi. I'm not sure if the sofa is going to be best sat opposite the fire as the sofa width is wider than the alcove? I'd put a console behind the sofa to dress with lamps etc. if you have the tv in the larger alcove have you thought about using a console table? Either one with a large single drawer for the sky box (will need a magic eye or whatever they're called plus a hole in the back for leads!) or one with a shelf at the bottom. They seem quite difficult to find in the right size but have found one below. Perhaps a chair facing the sofa kind of angled semi in the alcove with a floor lamp behind . Re oriental feel, oka have quite a few oriental inspired accessories etc so maybe a lamp and a piece of blue and white china. They also do faux hydrangea which would suit your look and some lovely cushions! You could also consider a darker wallpaper in the alcoves similar to pic that will follow just as an idea to add pattern. A French grey would be lovely, just check the undertones with your sofa. I'm not sure if you have the sofa already but try placing paper templates in the room if not. http://www.lauraashley.com/uk/made/furniture/p/brunel-console-table...See MoreA big blank white wall...... inspiration needed!!!

Comments (6)This is a bit of an unorthodox/ random idea: You could continue the upward lines of the upstands and paint the wall just behind the units (i.e. stopping mid-wall) to break up the wall. In a colour that really complements the painting. If it still looks a bit lost then perhaps you could put some wooden beading around the frame of the painting? A kind of exo-frame... Or lots of botany would also look rather nice on a shelf but could be rather high-maintenance. Max says.. knock the wall down 😂...See More- 10 years ago
