Comments (5)Hi guys, Yes I plan on putting shelves in (or the glass holders that hold the glass by its stem) but wanted to decorate the back first. Will have a look at that site and also look for DIY options. I'm sure it involves acid - hence why I didn't want to try it myself....See MoreAntique mirrors - hot or not?
Comments (13)Decorating with Vintage Mirrors They may say it`s all smoke & mirrors but mirrors really do offer brilliant solutions to a wide range of interior design problems. Unlike art or photography, which people can have opinions about, no one objects to a mirror. This elegant vintage console table with matching mirror is attributed to Pierre Cardin. Not only timeless, mirrors are also easy to coordinate. Reflecting their surroundings, they go with everything. Well-placed mirrors can make dark spaces seem lighter, tight spaces feel larger and dull spaces shinier. They can double the pleasure of a beautiful view, deflect attention from an unsightly one and add glamour without being gaudy. Nothing compares to the flattering illumination from a vintage backlit mirror. This Lucite oval illuminated wall mirror by Erco is from the 1970`s. Below this 1970`s illumintate wall mirror by German maker Hillebrand, is a playful re-interpretation of the backlit mirrors from Hollywood`s Golden Age. With all the `dressing room` glamour it is also very sculptural as the Lucite frame curves outwards from the wall. When used in a bathroom an illuminated mirror has the unexpected advantaged of preventing the mirror surface steaming up. An illuminated mirror is a clever alternative choice for a bedroom, entrance hall, living room or bathroom. The subtle indirect light from this mirror works well as ambiance lighting for the living room. A group of mismatched, decorative vintage mirrors can be just as interesting as a collection of art. When displaying a collection of photos, designers recommend unifying them by coordinating the frames. But with a collection of mirrors, the reflective surface is the unifying component. This gives more choice so the frames can be varied in size, style & shape. A wall mirror in the entryway provides the perfect place to give yourself a quick check before heading out. This 1970`s console table & mirror are attributed to Italian Designer Willy Rizzo. The unique combination of quality polished brass & chrome with bevelled glass & mirror work together for a rich design. See all our mirrors on this page of our web site....See MoreMirror suggestions?
