POLL: Yay or nay - open plan kitchens?
Comments (206)We are often approached by clients who are creating an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. To overcome some of the issues we make cabinetry which can hide away the usual clutter found in a busy kitchen. Bi-fold and pocketing doors are great in this instance as ovens and even sinks can be hidden away, making the cabinetry seem more like a piece of furniture than a kitchen. Our clients love being able to change the look of a space in an instance! It is crucial to make sure you choose your appliances carefully, i.e. a quiet dishwasher and a good extractor are of huge benefit here. As long as the space is thoughtfully planned there is no reason that it shouldn't work functional and aesthetically....See MorePOLL: Open plan bathrooms - yay or nay?
Comments (18)Hello Bagnodesign, I rather think that designing with "trend" in mind would be fleeting and offer the idea of continual change. I rather prefer the idea of designing with longevity in mind.. It's less about being fashionable but more about what is right for the space and clients needs, likes, budget and so forth.. I think this is not a symbiotic relationship between shower and closet and poses no real advantage as you can easily create a luxurious bathroom or shower room with a nearby closet area that is completely separate and moisture free.. It is though, entirely a matter of personal taste, but perhaps all that is needed is a degree of further separation which houses the shower and thus the resulting moisture is contained.. : ))...See MoreOpen plan family kitchen layout.
Comments (14)oooh study idea sound good too.. I sketched that on the plans originally but didnt know how it would work with hip roof but now we are having a flat roof at the back it will be fine! Just sent the planning application off so will have to see what happens, hope it wont cost to much if we have to change it a little. Thanks for all your help every one, I have 3 or 4 contenders now so I think the next step will be to get quotes from builders to see which is most cost effective for our budget!...See More1930’s semi - best open plan layout for kitchen/diner or all open?
Comments (24)I’m struggling to find a way to have a kitchen/island (really would like an island to have useable counterspace), generous dining table (seating for at least 6 people) and a sitting area in the same room if we don’t open up the wall between the current front and back living rooms. Would it make more sense to have part of the garage incorporated into the kitchen? There is a slight difference in floor level though between the garage and kitchen (Step down into the garage). Or block up the current kitchen door and have the access to a dining/kitchen through the current back living room space and then somehow fit in a dining table and seating area?...See More- Louise Richardson-Vine8 years ago
