I'm a big fan of using a single slab of marble/stone rather than tiling window ledges in bathroom's. Partly because it adds an extra luxe element but also because there's no grout to inevitably get discoloured or go mouldy. You could then add a pretty wooden tray on top with some bathroom essentials or plants like suggested above.

Thanks both for your ideas. Kittihawke Moving the toilet to create another door is a really interesting idea, but it is a load bearing wall and I fear that it would push the cost too high for the max value of the house. Plus it would make our utility even tighter and it is tiny as it is. That idea has really had me thinking though thank you! Isla Cherry the fireplace is definitely a blocker in my plans. It would have to be remodelled to work and again that would be very expensive. The most annoying thing is that we never use it but as we have a chimney and the functionality of a gas fire in case of a power cut we can’t just block it off. The kitchen has a large 8 seater table in it as a priority so this does reduce alternative seating, we have one armchair in the bottom left corner but the doors to the right arent far enough along to comfortably put another chair in the right corner. I think the garden room would work well, Im just concerned with how well it would work weather wise ans longevity- we cannot afford a really expensive one. The conservatory doesnt really lend itself to being a snug room as it doesnt get any privacy from the lounge. i think we will end up taking it down if we get a separate garden room as its too small to be useful, it has a plastic roof so we have all of the usually thermal issues but a new roof might make the living room darker. picture of yhe kitchen in case you have other ideas?
