Thanks for your help and advice- all really useful and helping me sort the confusion of what I need and want and what is and isn't possible. The skinny space is the kitchen now. It's not ideal as of course is very small and narrow so can't house much. But I like that it's just off the reception room and. It quite in it! The kitchen houses the boiler currently and all pipe work there for oven and sink etc so I know this can be the kitchen but just worried the space is too small. My original plan was to keep the kitchen where it is but rehouse boiler and put washing machine in the toilet. The toilet would go in the bathroom but of course now that's not possible I need to put the boiler and washing machine somewhere and if back in the kitchen then I lose so much space. Could such a small space work? I need to rule out this ideal by speaking to a specially that deals with very small spaces. Any recommendations please?

I would go for just the one pendant and a floor lamp and matching table lamp. A large chandelier would compliment your furniture beautifully, or a large drum shade with crystal droplets - I have attached a few photos of ideas. I thought I recognised your name! How did the kitchen colour go in the end? I think a Persian would be lovely, and the pattern would hide any paw marks although wool is meant to dispel any dirt. I’m a bit limited on colour Options but also tried it in a yellow (I was after an F&BIndian yellow but couldn’t get the shade!) It may not be your thing but you can go bold in a dining room?

Hi Dundrum, sorry I don’t think grey would go at all, It was more to show you the variety of styles in vinyl rather than the colour. Here’s some more appropriate, warm shades, creams and beiges as well as wood effect. If you have time, visit a flooring shop and you will see 100s of examples, that’s what I did. I did also choose a Moroccan patterned vinyl below, but I’m not sure the shade is quite right? I really like the first dark wood effect one.
