Thanks active builders, I thought 1.8m depth for the wet area - assuming bath is 80cm wide that leaves 1m depth for the showering area, but then that only leaves 1.2m to fit basin and toilet, which I thought might be a bit tight? We don’t really want a small basin as this is the main bathroom. My other option is to have toilet and washbasin opposite each other in the 1.2m run, but then this leaves a 80cm gap between toilet and washbasin and not sure if this would look a bit cramped?

If you are thinking to tuck a chair under so that’s out of the way, I would perhaps go He length of a chair and just over, to give room to put things on the desk itself. I measured my standard minimal but comfy dining chair and that was 40cm excluding the backrest. So perhaps go 45cm wide? Also think about using a ‘leggy’ chair, just like in the photo so it doesn’t take much visual space.

I would get a smallish drop-leaf table with two comfortable dining chairs for you and your roommate's eating area. I suggest no barstools - they take up too much real estate. Guests. Ask them to bring a cushion or a folding chair because you don't have enough chairs. I lived in a very tiny place and my guests were happy enough to sit on the floor - 90 minute party, max. Serve VERY good food. Separate the living and dining areas by color/style and/or an area rug for the living room that will compliment your furniture. Decorators siggest that the front legs of living room furniture be placed on the rug if the rug is too small to fit under all of the furniture. If you get a sisal rug, be sure to use a rug pad.
