Need some ideas for a very small office
Comments (10)Hello Mawlw, Yes storage in a small room can be tricky... If you have files and things... The last thing you want to do is have large pieces of furniture storing things... I would suggest putting a shelf all the way round the top of the wall but far enough from the ceiling height to allow for storing files etc... Paint the shelf white all the way around and even buy white files... Or boxes... that way you can store out of your eye view and still find what you need.. This free's up the space so you can make it appear bigger than it is... If the walls are not partition then you can add more weight just remember the raw plugs!!... Get really good brackets, Ikea do some lovely wooden ones No need to paint those.. I'd say 3 per shelf length of a m2 length & continue all round the walls to the window but not over unless there is the height above.... The other thing is that if you want a stylish office room. Get a good chair and you can get a table and shelf combo that leans up against the wall... See images... One of them is from Houzz! I love them both though... You get more floor space which in turn lends to a tranquil working environment... . : ))...See MoreNeed help with one 1 bed studio flat living room/ office space.
Comments (8)Thank you Thomas that's great - very efficient!! As the space has hard floors and walls it looks like your lacking in the soft furnishings side which is giving it the cold - office like - appearance which is sometimes a little uninviting. A rug will help soften the ground placed under a central coffee table. I would then consider adding some layers or textures and colour with a few cushions and some art on the wall above the sofa. Above the desk I would add a few short shelves which I would include a plant which soften interiors instantly and add life. This will also give you some great additional storage. I can also see two small ledges on either side of the room - this is perfect for some statement lighting with a strip of LED lights down either side. This will add wow factor and a contemporary statement. I hope this helps. Thank you, Gina...See MoreCan shifting one of the supporting walls be dangerous?
Comments (8)When my parents had the family home extended back in the mid-90’s, we had the additional steel lintel’s installed as part of the alteration, seemed common practice and a regular activity for buildings having an extension where the walls were being removed (our extension was similar to yours in that it was the external wall which was removed). The builder used exactly what is shown in Sonia’s post, one thing to be aware of though is that you are likely to have remnants from the original structure and where the lintel has been boxed in on show in the room (see example below) this might not be the case with modern building techniques but thats something you can discuss with the builder....See MoreSmall home office in large cupboard unsure on wall colour
Comments (10)We have a similar setup for my husband’s home office - and I actually really like the colour of yours currently! We went for a darker bottom third and lighter top, here’s a before and after. We love the darker colour underneath and chose the height of it to be the same height at the desk which worked really well and looks great. For us we don’t have this colour palette anywhere else in the house so my hubby feels like he’s ’gone to work’ which helps too. I think if you painted the green further up the wall more like a picture rail height and mounted your picture instead of having it on the desk that might be better for the heights ....See MoreMoop
