Isidora, that is why I have door knobs, I used to have a Springer Spaniel who could open every door, cupboard and window in the house (even mastering childproof latches on cupboards) The only way to keep her in, or out of, a room was to lock the door. Not content with her own escapology she then taught my brother's Lab how to open doors. I do understand that handles are easier for people with grip problems and I have oval door knobs which are a halfway compromise.

Hi Tanith I agree with the above it is quite a contemporary style and I have found in the past with these handles, I have found also that some people struggle to open large doors (especially freezer doors which have the most suction) with these edge handles as there is not a lot to grip on. I have attached a couple of other minimilist handle options that are designed with shaker doors. One is the Holkham range by Gaddesby kitchens which is integrated into the actual door. Or if you did want accents of brass then have a look at Stratto - TKC.

While black can be harsh, it is also quite modern. I don't hate the look of the image you posted below. You could always get fixtures to match to 'soften' it. I think if you only had black handles and the colour wasn't anywhere else it wouldn't go well but if it was integrated into the house, it would be fine.
