Hi Carol waterproof panels are a great alternative to tiling a wall and have been used in hotels for many many years. The panels have been finding there way in to homes more and more in recent years. The initial cost of a panel could work out to more than what some tiles would cost but a big saving is then made in the time and labour charge of fitting a panel compared to having the same area tiled. If installed correctly they are perfectly safe and you should not worry about getting leaks through joins etc. Also if in 5-10 years time you decided to replace the panels they would be a lot easier to replace than tiles and a lot less mess made in the process. Also worth noting that the preparatory work required to enable a first class finish can be extensive. Essentially the walls need to be flat, true & square. This is in fact where most of the work comes in to it. Tilling requires far less prep work ordinarily. However, it all depends on the finish you hope to achieve and the complexity of the design. Top Tip! If your installer is able to butt & scribe a joint the full height of these panels you know you have a real professional at hand. This will open up design possibilities without having to use unsightly cover/jointing strips which is the whole idea behind Nuance panels as opposed to similar products from other wall panel manufacturers.

Is the tile on the right a deep green? I would look at something taupe (which means it has a red/violet bias) along the Iines of Skimming Stone or Elephants Breath (Farrow and Ball). These colours seem to complement deep greens whereas anything with a yellow tinge could look a bit sickly. Also worth looking at Little Greene Slate which comes in oil based paint. Or, do you want to actually match a colour to the tile?
