We are going to replace the fireplace surround and backplate and hearth that we have at the moment and keep the existing gas balanced flue fire that we have (black surround on gas fire).
I love the arched fire look. What are the opinions on using this cast back plate:

I have been getting prices to change the gas fire to get the arched look, by that I mean this:

but I am getting prices of £1400 upwards simply because I don't have a chimney but am working with a balanced flue, vented to outside wall (house 9 years old). That's on top of the new surround and hearth etc. Just too much.
