No problem. Sounds like you have some ideas to look at. Contemporary would work well and you can easily add a few industrial twists where blank and greys are concerned!! If you do consider changing things like French doors or windows as well.. I would ask you to consider having 3D visual model drawn up to show you the options. I find this helps many of my clients with exterior decisions. I would never buy a car or even a lipstick without seeing it first so this package allows you to see expensive items like windows and doors before committing. I have attached an example. Thanks so much for responding, I love greeny/grey colours but our next door neighbour has their front door that colour so didn’t want to appear to be copying. Grey might be nice but do you think it will go with the existing creamy colour of the render or will it look a bit odd? We are due to repaint it anyway, so could change the colour of the render? Hi Sonia! I’m hoping to be able to get one through a door and window company as you say. The door I ordered was from a door company who sent out a surveyor to measure up the space and get the sizing right. But he said that they don’t make doors wide enough for what I want (even though I checked this with their customer services multi times!). He also said that even with their widest door we wouldn’t be able to also fit a side-panel. Sorry for the brain-dump! It’s all very frustrating since the whole point of the renovation is to make our bungalow accessible. Elki.

Ah ok, that makes complete sense. I don't think I would move the door to around the corner but I would consider removing some of the block paving where it meets the house and replacing some of it with gravel and planting. This would give you the opportunity to use some nifty planting to correct the proportions of the front door area. Some architectural planting where the walls meet the block paving would make a massive difference and also the area under the window to the right. In terms of colour for a new front door, I would focus on making it look cohesive. Anything very eye-catching will only draw attention to the asymmetrical aspect of the door as it is.
