What colour front door? Please help! I'm stuck!!
Comments (10)No problem. Sounds like you have some ideas to look at. Contemporary would work well and you can easily add a few industrial twists where blank and greys are concerned!! If you do consider changing things like French doors or windows as well.. I would ask you to consider having 3D visual model drawn up to show you the options. I find this helps many of my clients with exterior decisions. I would never buy a car or even a lipstick without seeing it first so this package allows you to see expensive items like windows and doors before committing. I have attached an example. I hope it helps and really look forward to seeing the finished look :)...See MoreIdeas on improving Front Exterior without a Front Door please?
Comments (13)Good afternoon everyone! We are blown away by the amazing response we have had from this community, thank you everyone for your feedback. We are especially grateful to Jonathan for his valuable feedback.. the idea is genius and makes so much sense! Thank you so much Jonathan for taking out the time to help us! I have never seen my husband so impressed by an idea so much!! I have attached a couple more photos showing view of the garage from the front of the house along with the entrance gate itself into the property. I have also attached a copy of our floor plan. We would really appreciate your thoughts on what we could to with the garage and front exterior in terms of: Garage walls - What do you think about the brick work? Worth keeping, or should we clad? Garage roof - We currently have an unsightly metal sheet. We don’t want to fully rebuild but we’ve seen light weight roofing for garages which look like tiling. Any suggestions or thoughts on this? Front exterior - We’re looking to improve kerb appeal of the house from the front, any ideas welcome (cladding, paint, stone work?) Windows - these are the original single pane windows which unfortunately come with poor insulation. Any thoughts on what to do for those? Further to the front patio suggestion, is it worth installing an entrance which leads straight into the kitchen through the current ‘Study’? See floor plan. (We are planning to extend the current kitchen by a further 2.5m towards the rear garden). Any ideas, suggestions and comments will be really appreciated, thank you for your help!...See MoreHelp needed for front door and garage colour
Comments (16)My favourite colour is red, but, with a garage door, it gets a lot of battering from our changeable weather. Strong sunlight will fade red and rain, frost and snow will degrade the colour too. The dark blue looks lovely. If you think the blue garage door is a bit much how about a blue front door and white garage door? You can't go wrong with teal blue. Look at paint colours for old houses, you might find something you like. Charcoal grey is fashionable now. I've seen a reddish purple garage and door recently and it looks pretty smart. I didn't get a photo though!...See MoreHelp and ideas for colour of roof tiles, fascias, render, & front door
Comments (3)Hi Nicola, when thinking about the outside of your house it's always important to consider the style of your home (when is was built) and what others on your street have. There are some rules on what the local council will permit too, so best to check with them first. Whilst it's nice for everyones home to have a unique personality, i believe it looks best when colours and design are in keeping with the original character of the house and road. 1950's homes are typically mid century, so think simplicity and clean lines. White wood siding in white can be a nice way to bring character to the houses facade. Plain, small format roof tiles in clay or slate are ideal materials for this era. I think your front door is where you get to have the most fun. Perhaps consider a colour. 1950's colours could be quite playful. I'd love to work with you on your inteior when the time comes.
