Hi. Have you looked at any of the neutral fabric options? Just thinking it would be nice to have a change from cream leather (I'm also not sure it wears as well as a darker leather or in my experience anyway?). If you're worried about the red, going neutral means you can add cushions in different accent colours. It's quite hard to tell re the size as the pic won't expand. What's on the other side of the fire?

the fire place is on the left - in front of it there is a 3 seater. I have taken the photo from an archway which leads to the dining room. as we have two active kids, I don't want light fabrics for the sofa!

A neutral XL sofa and colour pop love seat gets our vote, perhaps with a footstool or pouffe to give space for extra bottoms. No need to worry about getting bored as you can always mix things up with scatter cushions and throws. For the size of the room... I'd suggest a 2 or 3 seater in the red you like.. It will go with the armchair you have. Then add 1 or 2 armchairs to match.. Place the sofa to face the fireplace and the two chairs could be placed with space between where the current sofa with brown throw is..

This means you would have a feeling of flow as two chairs take up less room... The striped armchair then could stay where it is and as Minnie said you can dress everything with warm, neutral shade cushions and the curtain fabric if you can find it for some cushions, is a good way to compliment the look... A creamy throw or two on an arm of a chair and sofa could be good.. With the darker colour it's important not to fill the room with large furnishings.. The two current sofas are really too much but because they are light they are not so heavy looking, so for this reason I'm suggesting 1 sofa and possibly 2 chairs..

You can always add another chair if two would work.. I rather think it could because a throw and cushions in a nice light colour would definitely help lighten the red... It looks a muted berry colour so actually warm and with a softer tone than some reds can be.. : ))

I need to convince other half that we need 2 chairs (well 3 if you count the one we have) and a sofa rather than 2 sofas... we like lounging in the evenings so I can already see the battle every night to see who will win the sofa.... hard choice between practical and pleasing in the eyes. Would you recommend sofa/chair in 2 different fabrics or the same one?

Absolutely! Well how about a foot stool to compliment the chair? This could mean the ability to put one's feet up independently of lying on the sofa... You can move it around and even use as a coffee table with a tray! Some are sizey! I would say sofa and chair the same if the same style... You have the wing chair in a stripe for contrast! :))

Hi. The sofas have a lovely shape. Perhaps try the red checked cushions in front of the solid red ones? You could also try the cushions behind the sofa on the other one?
