Help with kitchen design

I'm moving into a new house which needs an entirely new kitchen. I'm slightly unsure of how to best utilise the space to get maximum worktop and storage. There is no utility so the space needs to include washing machine and dryer.
I want it to feel spacious but practical and have no idea where to start. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Thank Oasys, I really like that transformation. I've given plenty of consideration to drawers and pull out storage so as to fully access all cabinets. I'm hoping mine will have a similar finish but thinking of a wood effect laminate worktop. Not sure about the flooring yet as wood might be too much. Having seen the lighting on those cabinets I'm now being swayed toward this idea instead of a simple centre arrangement. Though I currently do not have a cooker hood, this will be included in the design. May I ask why this kitchen doesn't have one?

Hi Carol, What a great opportunity to start from scratch. You can extend the peninsular unit much further than the existing one which would give you plenty of surface space to enable you to have the long back wall as full height cabinetry. This could then house your washing machine and dryer and also give you lots of storage space. Good luck and enjoy!

I'd start by going into the usual kitchen shops- B&Q Wickes etc and see what's on offer at the moment then give them your measurements and get them to make up one of their 3D kitchens to look at. No obligation to buy!! Look at as many options as possible and pick the best bits from each. You could then get a local joiner to make up what you like, go back to kitchen shop or go elsewhere. Having looked at lots of options really helps.

hi you actually have a nice space,at least it looks like it. I would have unit on the main wall all acros with cooker in the middle. keep the sink under the window,get rid off the top unit separating the room and create an island rather than the breakfast bar. it's handy to be able to walk around both side of the island...we did our kitchen last year, I used Ikea and spent a lot of time design it but all worth at the end. good luck
