Help with Kitchen design

Hi,

We currently have a seperate kitchen and dining room, we are taking the dividing wall out to create a larger space, but are having problems with design ideas. All kitchen designers want to do something very similar to each other, this is probably the best plan

we've had - see attached items. (Ignore the dw in the middle of the floor. It's going next to the sink.

Does anyone have any other ideas which might work?

i have patio doors which open out into rear garden, a side door which opens onto drive way and a understairs cupboard which opens behind side door.

There is currently an arch way which we are going to put doors on which leads into the lounge.

A good lighting scheme will help to compensate for a lack of natural light, think of different types of lighting such as track, downlights, plinth and under/over cabinet with maybe a feature light over the table. The lighting can then be used in different ways to create different 'scenes' for cooking/eating etc. I would also have everything dimmable.

I'd start by going into the usual kitchen shops- B&Q Wickes etc and see what's on offer at the moment then give them your measurements and get them to make up one of their 3D kitchens to look at. No obligation to buy!! Look at as many options as possible and pick the best bits from each. You could then get a local joiner to make up what you like, go back to kitchen shop or go elsewhere. Having looked at lots of options really helps.

Thank Oasys, I really like that transformation. I've given plenty of consideration to drawers and pull out storage so as to fully access all cabinets. I'm hoping mine will have a similar finish but thinking of a wood effect laminate worktop. Not sure about the flooring yet as wood might be too much. Having seen the lighting on those cabinets I'm now being swayed toward this idea instead of a simple centre arrangement. Though I currently do not have a cooker hood, this will be included in the design. May I ask why this kitchen doesn't have one?

Hi Justyna, I have the same problem in my kitchen with an angled wall in the corner that has the mains drains so cannot be changed. I used a straight corner unit which meant I could still use the space. A good kitchen fitter should be able to cut the back of the unit around the chimney, the same with the worktop. Hopefully my photo below helps you understand!

Hi Emma,

The only other arrangement that jumps to my mind is a 'L' shape along the walls up to the patio doors and a tri-side island, something like in these pics below.
