Hello frandixon, First of all you really need to find another home for the picture. It's lonely and doesn't sit well in it's current situ. I would add a mirror yes but make it rectangular and something that is roughly wide enough to sit equidistant to the top of the wall and a 10cm gap above the dado rail. It wants to be slightly wider than the fire too so it frames the fire, so to speak. Or leave the picture and put another on the other side.. With the mirror in the middle. I think what would help it more is moving the TV away from the fire as you have two big black boxes in the room... People don't really want to focus on the television. Try to give the fire a focus... Even if it isn't traditional - it can still be a feature! Also you could possibly paint a slightly darker shade on the bottom half of the wall under the dado rail that compliments the colour above the dado rail - This then breaks up the room and adds another contrast. Also maybe move the side table and lamp to the other side of the sofa : ))

After accidentally losing a wood/glass partition between the living room and hall during our renovation, I had to source a fire-resistant replacement. I bought 2 glazed fire doors (44mm thick) and requested a matching pair maker, to create french doors. The doors were fitted today and the pair maker, when unpacked, turned out to be for 35mm doors. On enquiry, it turns out that the supplier doesn't sell 44mm pair makers. I have found a new supplier but there's a pretty long lead time. It's an acceptable fallback, but I'm going to spend a couple of days looking for alternative, faster suppliers. Can anyone advise on where 44mm pair makers can be made/purchased? 44mm is more in keeping with external doors, but I imagine they're usually sold as part of a door set rather than individually.

I have a Verine Acclaim remote control fire and the remote is broken, is there anywhere to get a new one? Have spoken to the company and they don't sell them any more.
