We had that choice when we fitted our new kitchen and categorically decided that it (in our specific situation) was a bad idea to have. It all depends on your situation though. We have young kids, we have young nieces/nephews and also 'elderly' relations. We decided that the majority of people using our house, who may wish to wash their hands, or rinse a cup out by hand would just turn on a tap and stick their hands under. Trying to re-educate both the young and the old not to use this tap when everyone has grown up with, and are used to, warm water coming out of the hot tap just wasn't going to be possible. Also, I don't really see the point of them (I view them as a nice to have) - I've always used a kettle for boiling water for drinks - I actually like the 5 minutes standing doing absolutely nothing waiting for the kettle to boil. As for the spuds, or pasta - mehh, I'm never in that much of a rush to have it done 5 minutes quicker than letting a pan boil.

Dear Olivia, we install instant hot water taps for many of our clients. They do look great and will give your kitchen that clean aesthetic that we all want. A couple of things to consider first, they require a small tank & filter under the counter so they do take up storage space. They also come with a filtration cylinder which needs replacing regularly enough, this is not a big deal, you can buy the replacement cartridges on amazon. We generally specify Billi taps and have never had any issues. We've put them into commerical premises also that are in constant use. Also worth considering Franke who also do them, still look great and are cheaper.

Hi Lucy. The kitchen is already in, it’s only the worktops that are being replaced so perhaps not relevant for us. I’ve made a decision and am going with the Qettle Mini 2 in 1. Sarah U-S I’d just decided last evening when you were posting 😀. I already have the new taps so want to keep those and having the Qettle will main I can do that as it’s a 2 in 1. I’d also hate the grandkids to turn the wrong one so having 2 different ones will mean I can yell at them to use the one that’s in a specific position. Just need the worktops to arrive in the country 🙄.

Grrrr just did a reply and lost it all. It depends on the depth of the worktop as some are 600mm deep and some 650mm deep. It’s all in the planning. Some sinks are supplied with a hole already in and some have no hole so you fit the tap in the worktop. I have the Qettle but mine is boiling water and filtered water so I also have the standard tap too. It’s a different design to yours. Do not pour the boiling water direct into the sink. It’s an absolute no. There have been reports of Blanco sinks splitting because of this. I always put the mug under the boiling water tap before turning it on.
